I switched to Brave from Chromium + UBO. Despite seeing some ads, it's still comfier to use vanilla Brave than Chromium + UBO.

If you want your Chrome to be as fast as possible, you would get rid of all extensions you have. It doesn't matter even if it's an adblock atp.

Hence calling it a feature, not a bug is rather misleading. Since you went and installed plugins understanding that it might and it will affect your workflow.

I see that author used these Combinator Birds or Birbs [1].

It's interesting. I assumed at least their power consumption should have been much better/lower than an avg orthodox desktop setup of current days.

I finally found out about tab folders in chromium-like browsers. Bookmarks are also fine, yet I always thought they're clumsy.

I assume it works for me. Maybe someone still has a better solution.

My assertion is that the every change we do towards things like that might involve million results and since it's not a simple logical statement it's rather hard to verify/validate the outcome in a short term due to the nature of dynamic/complex systems.

jobsearch.dev has quite nice advices you have to follow.

Besides that remember always to build your own narrative.

It really doesn't matter, or in general you can never be sure that any app that stores any data won't ever meet requests of any officials or any people with guns.

Especially the case of Telegram was quite simple, since SEC filed a complaint we could clearly see who are the main investors. It's not necessarily about the country or investors either.

You can choose only the place where things are stored and expect the company to act according to local laws (for e.g. Protonmail doing its proton things in Swiss judiciary).

And, I guess, a thing we have to teach people is something vague and unclear like post-privacy scene, like how one has to operate knowing that pigeon mails can always be spoofed, no matter how encrypted the conversation is.

Wait, what java runtime has to do with spotify?

Is Tidal's UI lightweight(like it's not Electron)? What about the songs? Are you satisfied with the songs library?

I'm thinking about switching since native spotify app's playing gif (or icon) spikes my CPU usage for some very strange reason.

Have you seen the data as well to judge like that?

(just being curious)

shrinking won't save us neither, but the 10x change will.

imagine asking china & india to shrink their volumes of energy consumption :)

Conservatism: An Invitation to the Great Tradition, Roger Scruton

So far I never understood what conservatism is, but Scruton changed it entirely, especially it felt fulfilling after reading Burke's Reflections on Recent France Revolution.

I bought all the other books of him after reading Skin In the Game.

Insanely nice book and it was easy to read!

well, if someone is a janitor, and the other one is a software developer, can you actually compare them properly?

if so, then training somebody to become a SEng involves more costs, than training smb to mop a floor.

the guy u responding didn't mention the job his gf does, thus assuming that she's the same software dev, would be a wrong thing to do, i believe.

besides that, she even may obtain the same level, the same set of skills as he does, thus she also has the same opportunity as he does.

that being said there is nothing to discuss about meritocracy, yet i agree with the fact that things are not that meritocratic as we want them to be. why? because there is always an asymmetry in a market, and contracts may always have some flaws (for e.g.: lemon market).

i perceive the case of him since he's not that tired as his gf is. that's just the basic compassion that one wants to feel, and even empathy.
