General formula that majority of big tech MAG7 companies apply when it comes to India is "3 times HC than Bay area". If you see pay data for these companies, that seems to be correct with salaries in Bangalore to be 1/3 of salaries in Bay area.
If they delay doing this, there's going to be irreversible damage. OTOH, it seems unlikely because they just renewed his contract and incentives in November
what's up with microsoft? out of all the big tech companies in that chart (https://www.levels.fyi/charts.html), their employees look most underpaid; yet they are doing amazing. How can they get away with not paying their engineers on par with competition?
Can you use sourcetrail on properitery codebases as well? I see it's GPL and according to my understanding, it's okay to use it on properitery software as long as you don't make any modifications to the sourcetrail software itself. Are there any hidden commercial licenses before I try it out on my company's codebase?
the wikipedia page mentions that cisco pays to MPEG LA royalties on behalf of any software project that uses their precompiled binaries. How do they keep track of who downloaded their binaries and how much money they owe to MPEG LA?
There are some teams that only work on high impact projects. If you feel that your current team is only doing work that's not valuable, you need to change teams or at least let your manager know to change your project. Ask for projects that you think will bring revenue to the company. Revenue = impact or increase in productivity of other engineers (this may involve writing an internal tool, etc.)
Must have been really hard to work at Facebook. I often see people shouting at Facebook and tagging their employees on twitter left and right shaming them publicly of their employer's actions. But how do you leave that $$$ on the table.
