Lovely site, the only comment I have is a more urgent call to action and in this line "Please consider joining the National Bone Marrow Registry today, and enter the lottery to save a life." I expected the "enter the lottery to save a life" to be a link or call to action.
So I would either take the red away or make it go somewhere, perhaps the registration?
What would be super useful is something that tells you what it looks like on older / other browsers, you've obviously thought about this with the image shots, but many images are missing.
Perhaps some sort of integration with browsershots or even just a text compatibility chart?
I echo what was said before, don't like the header. I get what you're trying to do with newspaper, though a cleaner font would work better. Look at the UK gaurdian app in newsstand for inspiration.
I would also suggest images in the article though again it may take away from the newspaper feel.
The flipping doesn't always work, it opens an article on the odd flip try.
I would love to see:
- Instapaper integration
- Pull in the comments if possible - isn't that what makes HN,Hn?
- Bookmarking
- New threads instead of just front page
- Number of comments so far
- A very light tint of colour on the buttons, 10% blue?
All in all great experience, with a tweaks this could be a winner!
+1 for the design and what everyone else have said. I would lower the price to something like £3 - £4 and don't create the illusion that the app has been discounted. It tells me you've tried to sell it and it didn't work. Now you're lowering the price creating an "Is the app any good?" mentality.
