Brian Wilson cited "Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles as one of his favorite songs -- he apparently had to pull over because he was having a nervous breakdown after hearing it on the radio, and he was in tears and said "They got there first." Pet Sounds was the response to Rubber Soul, and then Sgt. Pepper was The Beatles response to Pet Sounds.

I used to look up to YCombinator, but now I am disappointed in the role YCombinator played in platforming anti-democratic figures like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Nick Land, Curtis Yarvin, etc. who espouse scientific racism and eugenics with their obsession of race-based IQ levels and their desire for European whites to dominate over others. Big Tech's disruption model is not good for stability and notions of tolerance and decency. Happy 20th Birthday I guess.

It's amazing how right-wing billionaire figures have captured social media platforms and news media outlets, such as Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter/X, Jeff Bezos's takeover of The Washington Post, Patrick Soon-Shiong's takeover of LA Times, and Rupert Murdoch’s continued control of Fox News/Sky News/WSJ/NYPost, Mark Zuckerberg's recent rightward shift on FB/IG, and yet the right keeps yelling about George Soros. The propaganda networks on the internet are mostly rightwing with lots of surrendering to Russian/Chinese influence.

Feel free to live outside civilization :)

You can have the anarchy you desire in a cabin in the woods or on some a random island away from society. You won't have to adhere to common decency or common currency there.

You are correct. It's ironic that they wave the American flag and claim to be patriots, and yet no one hates the American government more than the Trump MAGA cultists who wave the American flag the hardest. The cruelty is the point. Millions of federal workers who are decent and hard-working folks will lose their jobs. Millions of poor people in the Global South will die, but this is what they want because most of these NRx insurrectionists are also racists and white supremacists, including DOGE staffer Marko Elez who had to resign for the racist tweets that were uncovered by WSJ. White supremacist influencers like Nick Fuentes, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, Paul Joseph Watson, and so on have poisoned the world. And Elon Musk retweets these trendy white supremacists and neo-nazies. Elon even confirmed that the Roman salute was what everyone thought it was the first time with a meme, and then is interfering with Germany's election by pressing his thumb to lift up the neo-nazi AfD party. No one seems to care and Paul Graham is still friendly with Elon Musk. Billionaires will always stay pals with fellow billionaires. Fascism is essentially another word for corporatism. They want the government to be small and weak so that their corporations can be more powerful than the government.

It's a technocratic coup in broad daylight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Enlightenment

Arrogant Silicon Valley CEOs think the world belongs to them. They want liberal democracy to fail and transition to a "tech monarchy".

Quite frankly, I don't think the 2026 and 2028 elections will happen.

Look up Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin, Nick Land, Steve Bannon, Marc Andreessen, and other figures involved with the "Neo-Reactionary accelerationist" Dark Enlightenment movement. One of Elon's little DOGE lackeys (Edward Coristine) has "there are cathedrals everywhere for those with eyes to see" as his twitter bio. "Cathedral" is Curtis Yarvin's word for the "cultural hegemony" of universities and the government, hence why he wants to destroy the federal Department of Education especially as well as any federal agency and the federal government from the inside.

It turned out that the whole American experiment of tech-capitalism out of Silicon Valley was a huge failure and a existential threat to decency, stability, and order in the Western world.

Even Paul Graham will lightly chastise Elon Musk on twitter, but is largely fine with what Musk is doing.

Reading into these weird power abusers. Scary stuff! They seem to want to take down America's liberal democracy and install an "American Caesar"

What scanner and scanning method did you use?

SE is probably the better choice, instead of SWE.

I'm trying to write a book and researching some niche old stuff and trying to extract info from 90s websites (some of the websites are dead and I don't know how to search Internet Archives), and Google Search is becoming hopeless, so I've been switching to yandex.com to find stuff.

Even Google Image Search is terrible now and I use TinEye.com and yandex.com for that. I should probably try Bing more as well.

The next step would be digitizing the books and manuscripts so scholars can collectively research the finding.

I wonder what the cost of this digitization process would be and what research labs can render this service.

Would the Super Museum count as niche?

Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois: https://supermuseum.com/

The page displays the movie title logos for Superman I-III but not Superman IV or Man Of Steel. I suppose that's a selection bias from the website owner Reagan Ray.

Here's his page on Marvel Comics title logos: https://reaganray.com/2021/04/06/marvel-lettering.html

I'll reveal the answer by the end of this decade when the copyright expires. The main reason I bought it is because it's not archived and transcribed on the internet already and it was frustrating me, so it became my Holy Grail, and then I was telling someone it was my Holy Grail and looking it up to show them, and that's when I noticed it was on the market.

I have a question for anyone who might know about this sort of thing.

I bought a book from a Manhattan auction in NY for about $100,000.

I would like to digitize the book, but there is fading from light degradation on several pages. The book is about 100 pages total and it's from the 1930s. It is typewritten and it was mimeographed to make copies.

What is the best way to go about scanning the book, and also what can be done about somehow being able to track the ink of the fading text?

This works, as long as you don't have to paypal people. Is there a way to make paypal transactions anonymous to the other party?
