They've been getting hammered by bad actors. Work in the email industry and its been bad for them. Hopefully they figure it out. Yesterday I got two phishing scams that were from a BS gmail saying they were in hiring at Unilever and Nestle.
I understand what you mean here but I'd consider this something that is configurable. I'd 100% have this product type as the default to require manual intervention/actions. Forcibly require someone to turn it off w/ some very explicit conversations. Maybe even provide some educational content about best practices.
I'm sure this will work out for the parties who are frequently discriminated against. Safety is a concern but you sure better prepare yourself legally for what's coming.
