Ironic in a thread about censorship and silencing people.

We don't trust Twitter. That is just what sensationalist papers claim.

For the millionth time: the number of bots tweeting about something doesn't imply a lot of people are actually seeing the tweets.

Also, afaik all the botometers are crap, so studies based on them are also crap.

Lots of hosts offer "Wordpress Hosting" - is that fundamentally different from offering Elasticsearch?

I don't think merely using the name of an open source product is such a huge ethical issue? It's the same all those Wordpress hosts do.

The other things (claiming a cooperation exists, stealing from commercial code) seem more questionable, but also unrelated to the actual open source license.

So it wasn't the protesters, it was the security forces who were planning a coup? Interesting perspective. Are they being prosecuted? Where did they meet and discuss their plan? How come they were all in on it?

It seems possible they avoided injuries and bloodshed with their actions, but that would be such a boring explanation`, right?

May I ask where you get your information from?

I am genuinely curious. I googled it, and while the exact circumstances don't seem to be clear yet, it doesn't sound like murder to me. It sounds as if most likely the officer was hurt in a brawl between rioters and police (being hit in the head with a fire extinguisher). While that is still awful, murder requires murderous intent and planning (afaik).

Therefore, it seems really interesting what sources gave you the impression it was murder.

On the other hand I remember a police officer being shot during BLM riots, while he tried to protect a business. So by your logic, is it reasonable to assume that BLM activists would murder their opponents without second thought?

Did people throw bricks during BLM protests? That seems roughly the equivalent to throwing fire extinguishers, accepting that somebody could be severely hurt or even die.

Are you referring to various legal shenanigans? Is it really an "insurrection" if it is a process within the legal system? I don't think so. And I don't think Trump at any point endorsed any theory involving a storming of the capitol, as he never called for anybody to storm the capitol.

You should get more information than just from mainstream media.

Otoh the real issue probably is that information does not even matter, only group affiliation does. You'll just believe what confirms your world view and filter out the rest, and so does everybody else.

"would happily kill any of them without a second thought"

Bullshit

"attempt to install a different regime"

How can anybody believe such nonsense? Sorry, but simply taking over the capitol doesn't automatically make you the ruler of a new regime. It's not a video game were you get made king when you conquer the target zone.

What damage to democracy do you expect from the Capitol incident? I think they'll put a few more guards up, and that's it.

Or they use it as an excuse for more totalitarian control, but then the Capitol events were not really to blame for it.

You can be against both things at the same time (cancelling said party and said party's plans against neutrality).

"They're rejecting obvious evidence of President Donald Trump's historic unpopularity"

Didn't he receive more votes than 2016?

"A recent paper in PNAS, however, provides a single explanation"

Ah, wonderful, a simple explanation that makes Trump fans look like jerks. It HAS to be true. Right? It's so obvious. They are just sexist jerks. That's the explanation.

From the department of "Glaciers are sexist" studies.

As long as you aware that the friend is imaginary, perhaps. If it gets to real, I'd say it is a mental illness.

Not sure if you can simply create that by willpower/meditation, though. Although it seems very likely that it is possible to deliberately fuck up one's mental health. After all, it is possible to fuck up one's physical health, too.
