This post gives me the same feeling when someone at work tells me how they do CrossFit. You don’t have to signal so hard, just make a decision and do it. Not everything is a moral lesson that has to become some kind of sermon and honestly, that post told me everything I needed to know about where the EFF is. The EFF Punk rock style is dead and long live the complainers.

Sponsored by Brawndo - its what plants crave

Seriously though, this is painful to watch. Reminds me of those articles/videos where people have to have their jobs "invest" or software/hardware partners in that website and all of a sudden this person is a "Person of Interest".

Meh

This site looks like some kind of get rich slowly/negatively oppurtunity that your cousin tries to sell you at Thanksgiving. I don't know a lot, what I do know is that I have no idea why someone would pay $100k to be a citizen in Grenada or Dominica.

Spent the last 24 hours looking for a good contacts CRM to host in my docker lab. I found Monica CRM however it did not accept the import of CSVs. Then looking around I found a good script for CSV to VCard Conversions which is cool but because a lot of my contacts have non UTF-8 characters in their names/titles it was not working right. So now I have updated the script in case anyone wants to do this.

Ultimately as I get older I am finding keeping track of who I am working can be tough after 3-4 months a project is done. So I set a goal for myself to do better personally to organize my contacts. Maybe this will help someone out there, maybe not but thought I would post it just in case.

This sense of outrage on stupid things is getting old.

If you are going to have a 3k star project and you get your feelings hurt over someone asking if it is after you took a break, that is a legitimate question.

Dumb blog post got me again, I almost never click on them from here because it is either some VC self congratulating themselves or some developer griping about their hard life while driving their Tesla home to their $500k home.

Over the last several months, articles have been on the internet tracking one of the Mid-2010s darlings – SoylentNews – for a possible shutdown. With the user NCommander posting in late May, "SoylentNews is going to shut down operations on June 30th." SoylentNews is owned by a company, SoylentNews Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), which NCommander is the president of. The site SoylentNews uses a fork of Slashdot code engine which was made open-source. Using PHP and Pearl, it has seen better days with little activity in its Git Hub. Michael Casadevall (NCommander) is a New York Ubuntu core developer and president of SoylentNews Public Benefit Corporation (SN PBC). NCommander has just recently been active in the community, asking for assistance. The goal is the call for the next generation to step up and lead the renovation of Soylent. With its dedicated editors and volunteers hearing the call, activity has been resurgent on Soylent, along with staff discussing what to fix next in their IRC Channel at chat.soylentnews.org

The countdown continues, so we will have to see if SoylentNews survives the summer.

If you didn't know, Brinks(the folks that do the armored car) have been having an nationwide outage. Around this same time their CIO steps down. There is almost no news about this event anywhere which is interesting.

"Finally, if you were subscriber to Twitterrific for iOS, we would ask you to please consider not requesting a refund from Apple. The loss of ongoing, recurring revenue from Twitterrific is already going to hurt our business significantly, and any refunds will come directly out of our pockets – not Twitter’s and not Apple’s. To put it simply, thousands of refunds would be devastating to a small company like ours."

So a company builds a system that sits on another system to do a thing, charges for a thing, shuts down that thing, and then asks their customers to not ask for a refund for the thing on the thing that is broken...seems a bit....icky

Ha! This is a best loosely coupled. EPI discloses labor unions fund them. Labor Unions did nothing for families in the 60s,70s,80s, and 90s when all manufacturer jobs were driven out of the US due to bad labor negotiations. Joining a union is about as helpful for your job as joining a country club except you don’t get any real perks.
