The answer is in your question. "Empty calories" is a multi trillion dollar business in the food world. It will be the same in the digital world.

Thats the point of the movie: the organized and disciplined leader didnt follow his own advice while the hot-head reckless gambling degenerate did.

The US isnt better at soccer because our best potential soccer players are playing defensive back or point guard.

It's that simple.

If you want to maintain your current standard of living and start a business you need customers, investors, or savings. If you want to start any business, startup or lawncare and all points in between, you need customers, investors or savings.

So start by solving that problem.

P.S. the "90% of startups fail" is inaccurate and moronic. It gives no context on the type of business or the outcome. Starting a 1 million dollar / year lifestyle business is incredibly simple (not easy, but simple). Starting a fifty billion dollar pharma company is incredible difficult. Anyone saying "well I want to start the latter, not the former!" has never had a 1 million / year lifestyle business.

Ted Cruz is well known for being 2 people. A Texas monthly pc a couple years ago caught both sides at once when a staffer kept letting an elevator door ding as it was being held open. Ted was doing his politics side with the reporter and lost it on the staffer then went back to gentle Ted.

I'm not an engineer outside of the occasional WP site, but that's enough. Cold email is my bag and I'm a good (and proficient) writer. In October I started cold emailing internet, marketing, and SW companies asking if they needed any help with their blogs. In the intervening months I've added 7 clients that pay, on average, $700/month for various help with content. MOst of it is blog posts but I also do press releases, eBooks, etc.

Amen. I can't think of another brand that fosters so much "I'll spend more money here" compared to "I'll use a different brand."

I'm sure the price point will induce some people to buy it. and I'm sure android users will be in that group. But I use Android and am looking for a new phone. I wont be considering anything Apple, even at a much lower price point. Agree that it will be interesting to see what happens to the sales of their higher priced phones.

Agreed. I'm only here to see how worked up people can get about another phone that's 98% the same as all the other phones.

As for it being faster than all Android phones. Ok. And? I dont look at my Galaxy and say "if only this was 1 or 2 or 5 or 6.7% faster." We are kind of past the "it should be faster!" for basically ALL smartphones in my view.

You don't realize how good you have it:

1. you work for a company that is an excellent resume booster outside of the valley. I'm from central texas and most everyone I know in tech has worked at Dell and once complained how boring it was to work at Dell. The moment they decided to move away from Austin their Dell experience made them very hot commodities to non-Austin tech companies. Every day you stay at Google the more valuable you become.

2.you presumably make enough money to not worry about your monthly Bills and probably have enough to save as well. At age 28 you are well ahead of the vast majority of 28 year olds from the last 100 years. Not saying you should be content but still...

As others have said you have a great opportunity to do some new things, both in terms of mental and financial capacity. Nevermind learning more tech stuff...get a hobby. Try different things to make you the kind of person you've always wanted to be. Most people are not able to do that because of stress at work or stress about money. You seem to have neither.

Which is a pretty strong vote for building your company somewhere with lower salaries and lower cost of living.

There are a LOT of great engineers in places other than SV, Austin, Boston, etc.

No, but you can accuse them of fraud if they start essentially the same company without you in it.

It's not ridiculous at all if it's in the same niche doing the same thing.

I call people I don't know all the time because I have something valuable to offer and want to share that with them. It's no different than any form of advertising....its just more direct. Put another way, if I could call you today and offer you a service or product that solved a big problem you have for a fair renumeration you would be thankful.

I don't understand this. Say you're not interested and move on. Being a dick to someone trying to earn a living says a lot about your character. And I promise, the sales rep doesn't care. Their job is dials and talk time. Your bot is helping them reach their daily quota.

Lol. You do realize that you are wasting your time, not mine?

My business succeeds BECAUSE of cold calls. So your drop in the ocean matters not.
