Same here, paint work is not my forte but I'm interested in learning more and improving my skill set in this area. I've found through various failed paint projects that surface prep is critical. I used to think that paint would 'fill in' minor surface issues like scratches but it seems to actually highlight them in some cases. Your paint job looks really nice though. Thanks for your insight and nice work on the restoration!

Thoroughly enjoyed the read and your coverage of the process. A couple questions: How pleased were you with the final texture and finish of the paint after your process? Seems it would be tricky to emulate the original rubberized finish with spray paint. I'm considering a restoration of an old ThinkPad with similar issues. Any steps you would do different or recommendations you would make for someone who is considering a restoration?

I wonder what the opposite of the curb cut effect is? For example, tactile paving is an accessibility feature that benefits one group but can hinder many others with accessibility needs.

Anecdotally, I've observed that elderly people with grocery carts and people in wheel chairs have difficulty at cross walks navigating these features. The wiki mentions these points:

"...more thought should have been put into balancing the needs of vision-impaired pedestrians and mobility-impaired pedestrians, such as wheelchair and cane users, who can trip on the bumps."

The owner of a custom rotating house in California cited a similar reason for moving. The video is worth watching but here is the relevant section:

"I've had 18 heart procedures. My wife is in perfect health. The odds of me outliving her are zero...We're moving back to Coronado. This is a complex house, even though I think it's simple! For her to try and teach somebody else how to run everything and do everything would be difficult if something happened to me. So we're just kind of jumping ahead."
