These older systems design principles have really scratched a part of my brain and I'm keen to keep pulling that thread. Do you have any recommended readings on the topic?
The thing that always baffles me with vertical farming is sunlight. Assuming most crops are pretty good at turning full spectrum sunlight into useful stuff, why shrink your solar energy per crop?
And assuming you get around this via grow lights, surely the energy and material cost goes up too much for high-volume crops to make economical sense.
My understanding was that thinking still gets encrypted, shared with clients, and reingested by Anthropic with each new prompt [1]. Which means it would cost more than normal tokens, since it has to be decrypted/encrypted with every transaction.
For more mainstream SBCs, totally agree. However a lot of the niche industry boards (especially new ones) only support Yocto out of the gate. Debian might be "supported" by the SoM/CPU vendor but manually reapplying kernel patches and praying it boots is a PITA.
I love watching BAR multiplayer games but definitely felt a bit overwhelmed in the midgame with this one. How anyone can comprehend a 40v40 in real time is beyond me haha. I guess it's just a muscle to build.

I'm pretty interested in realtime computing and didn't realise C++ was considered bandwidth efficient! Coming from C, I find myself avoiding most 'new' C++ features because I can't easily figure out how they allocate without grabbing a memory profiler.
It might be my inner Luddite talking, but LLM use in defense and intelligence terrifies me. What happens when built-in model biases or hallucinations affect human safety? Who is to blame and how will this be mitigated? Fascinating but scary.
Not sure about the primary FSW but the BFS uses cFS[0]. As the sibling comment mentions, you can check it out on GitHub. Sadly I believe NASA keeps most of their best code private, probably siloed into mission-specific codebases. Still, the cFS repo is an awesome crash course on old-school Flight Software techniques.
The amount and tone of discourse on this post is blowing my mind a little bit. I appreciate the criticism and concern about EFF's justification (it definitely seems a bit arbitrary) and would be a bit pissed if I was a donor. But X is so clearly an actively hostile, botted, and controlled platform. Does the hn crowd really value X so much? Or is this comment section also getting botted lol.
