Well, you’re 16. It shows.

Every teenagers generation could be described as exhibitionist. “Hold my beer and watch this.” is how they used to proclaim some shallow effort at relevance was about to occur.

You describe how people are obsessed with credentials and don’t take pride in achievement anymore. That’s conflicting rhetoric.

You’re trying too hard to make a point.

They’re humans. That hasn’t changed. What’s changed is what society drives toward success in. What society surrounds us with.

Look at Bezos and Gates. Andreessen.

Helped into prestige positions by the ideological buy in of their masses.

Same as priests and Presidents of old.

Those people are propped up. No way they have power without others doing in their direction at scale.

That’s what humans do. No one in power ever got there with their own two hands.

Look at all the post modernist wank and reproducibility issues in social sciences, and the oceans of ink spent conjuring nonsense.

Humans are a vain species that, until recently, truly believed at scale it could be forever.

Covid19 has brought the awareness that not paying attention doesn’t mean the world stands still. Folks are realizing growth isn’t forever. Humanity isn’t necessarily forever as they were able to believe for thousands of years.

Is being lonelier bad? Perhaps we’ve been pushing socialize 24/7! too hard and this is a correction.

The falloff in human contact for me has me back to a space opera I’ve been curating for over a decade. My analog jack git repo, where I’m building a collection of software to curate for the rest of my days, to avoid buying it, has exploded with new ideas.

If you don’t like the screen addiction you’re seeing, yet you’re seeking connection via a screen to hash it out.

Unplug from the internet and this audience. It’s just people too, and you can probably learn all you need to know about them by intimately observing a subset in your own community.

They laugh, they cry, they act like jerks, they ignore real problems for their novelty & nostalgia chasing.

Thinking any of us here are saying anything that hasn’t been said a million times is vanity. Which is all the web is. Vain and impermanent people looking for the forever they were promised as kids via a number of misguided social norms.
