Writing. As in paid to do it, with briefs, deadlines and editors. From this comment I probably look like a crap writer! I do need to focus alot to write well.

I don't use AI except for checking for basic mistakes. I may start using AI for research but I refuse to use it for generating a word of content.

I am thinking of writing a book. I have a rough idea of my rate 100 words per hour (including edits, research) so a 50k word book would take 500 hours or about a year of consistent grind. I'd probably blog the book content allowing for a win even if I abort early.

Yeah get your PR and citizenship to your desired country ASAP (wouldn't help in this case as they did anyway). Generally the world gets less friendlier to migration over time. Be it little things like more tests, costs and waits or big things like booting people out without due process.

What happens if you need to catch up? You keep calling in a loop with a new lastEventId?

What is the intention there though. Is this for social media type feeds, or is this meant for synchronising data (at the extreme for DB replication for example!).

What if anything is expected of the producer in terms of how long to store events?

> 4 9s of accuracy predicting click-through rates

Having a hard time parsing what that means.

Lets say the CTR for 1000000 impressions of an add is 24.5898% and the ML predicts 25.1926%. How many 9s of accuracy is that?

It is expensive. If we do a monthly test restore like someone suggested then 1TB costs $6000/y. No restores is $3000/y. s3 regular is 10% of that.

It's one of two backups. The software is great. Dropbox level of just works. iDrive by comparison is cheaper but always errors and files it couldn't touch.

Thanks! I suspect that for my use case (actual backup no meed for cloud access) s3 glacier is statistically cheaper.

As a customer do I need to worry? It is my favourite cheapo backup.

Technology ironically. The stuff Peter talks about where Y=0. The covid vaccine inventors for example.

Other Y=0 things are people giving their lives for the greater good and basic rights. Geneva convention. Rights for black people, rights for women.

Infact the world runs on Y=0 stuff.

I disagree with the take on UBI. With UBI more people can then pursue a career that is fulfilling for them. Rather than choices of shit jobs to make ends meet.

By the way, reading maps is easy. Reading a map and memorising all the landmarks and turns so you can then drive without looking at the map is the hard bit. IMO.

Useful! I mostly use Bitbucket and Atlassian has a decent VSCode plugin to check on PRs and Jobs, I assume similar exists for Github.

Lovelace would be a great language name someone should use it.

These are the people who will survive (AI or Otherwise!).

I would also add:

The rich. If you invested well and sit on 10M+ you are probably OK as long as you keep investing well.

The very talented (and recognized) e.g. anything from sports starts to pop stars.

Many "real world" jobs like police, fire, nurses, etc.

Anything where being human is a part of what is for sale. Tour guides, theatre, mixologists, hairdressers.
