This feels like the image of the plane that returns from battle with bullet holes, and the engineer being asked to path up where the holes to make it stronger. Only to be told to patch where there weren't holes as those planes didn't make it home.

While not an exact fit of an analogy, those tests patch what was a problem with Postgres in the wild. What it doesn't cover are the things that worked in Postgres without tests, but may fail in port and go undetected.

What timing. I was just preparing my Sony Vaio PCT-C1MHP only yesterday to try and sell. I remember seeing this in a movie around 2000 (probably Charlies Angels) and got one.

About 15 years ago I used to have a Silhouette cutter printer. You could get a cutting blade and it would cut shapes out of paper and card. I remember putting a pen in there and using it to write with it on paper. It was cool.

Very fun. I can only imagine building this with Claude and testing needed a bit of mental concentration.

React was one of those ways of building software that gave me back the giddy excitement I had learning Visual Basic as a kid.

It’s hard to explain, but the way everything was encapsulated as a component just clicked for me and suddenly the whole app could be composed.

I think it was when they introduced functional components. And when it comes to hooks, I love them.

Not to say other frameworks didn’t do the same, there was something special about React.

I’m working on Flowtelic. A workflow driven note-taking system that aims to get you thinking deeper, but also help you work on the most important thing next if you’re stuck. While not essential, it’ll be enhanced with a local first AI approach.

As someone who tried to sort many lego sets lately, I do like this. The problem lies that modern lego has so many unique forms that it feels like you'll have many bins with one or two pieces in.

I just compared this on my Mac book M1 Max 64GB RAM with the following:

Model: qwen3.59b Prompt: "Hey, tell me a story about going to space"

Ollama completed in about 1:44 Lemonade completed in about 1:14

So it seems faster in this very limited test.

What incredible work. I found his video on all the smoking products he found really interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3gK-X32cy8

This is actually one of those things I think the EU should consider regulating. It then means kids can have proper parental controls as they often get introduced to things by being handed a parents phone every now and then.

This is my site: https://www.productgenome.com/

It's where I'm exploring the range of products I'm building/testing which gives a bit of context to why I'm interested in certain areas.

I picked up on that also. I feel that a lot of humans would also get confused about whether you mean the eye on the left, or the subject's left eye.

Thanks, and great feedback about the use of dollars!

Thanks. I’m based in the UK so have a good grasp on that, but I’ve reviewed someone’s resume from the US just as easily. Generally, English speaking and preferably in a digital related field, but a lot of the common pain points seem to be universal. It’s only difficult when it’s a field that’s highly niche as hard to know what’s common knowledge.

I like to play the role of the person doing the hiring, hence why the form asks for an example job description.

I’ve gone old school. After reviewing a few people’s CV’s the easiest format was for me to record a video with the feedback, so I put a site together for that:

https://resume.fail/

No AI, you just buy my time.

I’m also looking to do a couple freebies if anyone wants to anonymise their CV and let me use it for a promo example.

The problem I face with building web apps where the elements are draggable or clickable, is that the browser also selects the text. The easiest solution is to disable text selection.

But I’d love to know if there’s a better solution to keep text selection somehow.

I tried looking this up and it sounds like it will be supported. But then again, we don’t have the ability to install Fortnite as that’s blocked in the EU.

Or they will change their policy that allows conversations to be used for training AI.

If you ever want to release an update or launch a new product or book, you can now communicate directly with those who are already interested in your work.

If you can't find a way to a) sell the software and b) don't have the passion to use it alone, here's something you could consider.

Pull the code apart and find the interesting ways you've built it, then create training videos on how you did it and sell it as a course.
