You can get higher salary with writing REST apis in Ruby. And fully remote

If these are the rules I'm pretty sure the site already lost the battle against reddit

I use the "Home" and the "Popular" tabs every day to discover things on reddit. I can't be alone with this

Do you have any suggestion for a good book on the math topics you mentioned, to get myself above the bar?

I've seen some longer load times on PS5, but mostly with PS4 games. Not sure why.

What are you talking about?

I have no idea what is vector database, I’ll look into it.

I like 1, already have some experience with it, but security is such a big field, I don’t know which direction would be the best.

Do you have any suggestion for 5? I know I am bad with people skills, but I’m kind of an introvert. How can I improve in this?

Hi,

No I don’t want to be famous :D

I want high paying salary and/or to stand out during an interview. If there are 30 candidates for a position, right now there is nothing I would stand out with.

Last but not least, I want to work on interesting stuff. I’ve had enough of writing REST APIs.

I’m also thinking about starting my own business, and I feel like if I have some specialized knowledge I have better chance to succeed or to find a business opportunity.

All code I wrote during my 12 YoE is a property of a company. And obviously I don’t even have access to it.

With this type of interview you rule out a LOT of people, and only keep in the pool who either works on open source, or do great projects in their free time.

If that’s the intention, do it. But otherwise I don’t think it’s a good idea.

I think a _ WELL PAID_ take home project is much better way to interview people.

(Saying all this from the interviewee perspective)

Everything has to be validated on the server side simply for security reasons. Even if you do all validation on the client side, which prevents the users submitting a form with invalid data, an attacker can work around that. e.g. submitting the form with valid data, but intercepting the request and modifying the values there. Or simply just using curl with malicious/invalid data.

You still need the client side validation for UX. The regular users needs to know if they messed up someting in the form. Also it's a much better UX if it's done on the client side, without the need to send an async request for validations.

I've just posted about protonmail. Seen another post about github. Must be some cloud service outage or similar?

I had to click through way too many links to finally find some code examples. The first page that contains at least some examples is the "Controllers" page in the wiki.

I think you should improve the README and include a showcase of how your framework works.

> Finding a need and filling it was very lucrative

Any tips on how to find a project idea? What worked for you?

This seems very similar to Notion. I am currently a Notion user, how does this compare to Notion?

What would make me switch from Notion to Outline?

Does SPA concept work well with search engines? I moved away from web development, but SPAs used to be very bad if you wanted to appear in Google search.

Btw I was looking into Django recently, they are still using the “older” paradigm you are referring to.

+1 on this.

Seems like a good product, if they are open to remote and would hire from Canada, I would be very happy to apply

Hello! I'm a Software Engineer with 11-12 years of experience (3 of that is full remote). Currently working at Amazon. I have experience in large scale distributed systems, designing, implementing, and maintaining them. I have oncall experience. I also worked at small startup sized companies before.

I dont understand this argument. Vscode is very fast after you opened it. Startup is slow but who cares? I haven’t restarted my vscode for a week now.

I feel very similarly at Amazon. I wish I could volunteer for being laid off. I could use 3 months (with severance) without any work to try curing my burnout.
