not exactly what you're aiming at with your comment but, sort of adjacent, maybe relevant:

and it's so low effort too. like they never try dragging their instruments across the bows. where has all the creativity gone now that we have these "official protocols" of performance and musical quality!

I know this is perhaps a bit tongue-in-cheek but it's still astounding just how suspiciously accurate the implied parallel here is... lol

as someone who extensively uses generative AI in my creative process, I personally have not found any reliable tells in my output to distinguish it from traditionally produced music, with the exception of when suno goes off the rails and just generates a 7:59 piece that is just randomly averaging across latent space. but even that sounds less like AI generated slop and more like a plunderphonics adjacent sound collage.

now granted: I don't use AI to write my lyrics (with the exception of pieces framed as involving AI, eg. rap battles against AI), and furthermore beyond that, I also use my own musical productions from the past as audio uploads alongside my lyrics and my prompting strategy, so by definition I'd say my output is inherently going to be exploring sonic space that is not typically explored by most users, and as such if I am using my own output as the mechanism by which I'm evaluating this argument, then naturally it's probably going to be understandable as to why I find it so difficult to distinguish between AI and organic human effort.

but either way. I've had people express some level of intrigue at the level of variation and such present in my output artifacts, which to me suggests that this might be a relevant dimension within which to evaluate this specific character or quality of music as machine generated or human generated...

just some (admittedly not super well structured) thoughts it occurred to me to share.

this is, legitimately and without any exaggeration whatsoever, almost exactly how nearly everyone I speak to IRL as a homeless individual interacts with me. There are a few here and there that absolutely do make an attempt to have real discourse and actually discuss in context, but by an overwhelming majority, most of them just take the (to borrow from a response) SLM approach.

life is exhausting sometimes

just for the sake of conversation…

if you did, where would you have set them up at anyway? Asking for a friend

How can one apply a rule more than universally? Wouldn’t too universally be the same thing as just universally? put differently, how can you do something MORE universally than universally?

Brendon Small voices the main character. H Jon Benjamin is one of the supporting characters (coach McGuirk)

another reason, namely the reason that I specifically do not use wireless headphones:

due to the nature of wireless communications, real time audio is effectively impossible and as such there is almost always some amount of noticeable latency when performing tasks that rely on real time audio (eg music production). a little of latency is okay sometimes but the amount that wireless devices introduce is typically on the offer of maybe 100-200ms and when you're trying to play a section or some such it makes it damn near impossible to hit a note on the mark you're aiming for.

i've always heard it said as PED-er-NAL-iss

other honorable mentions: puyallup, washington (PYOO-al-ip) koenig ln, austin, tx (KAY-nig) - though admittedly this one is likely originally german König, and what texan is going to pronounce German words like Germans? aqui bleiben wir with Stolz, y'all

I have issues with seeing this as word salad, simply because in most instances that term is used to describe utterances that are entirely nonsensically, linguistic content so utterly absteuse that one has no hope of deriving any sort of meaning from it other rnsn, well, it's just a bunch of words tossed together. having read the description of the project, as well as several comments here on HN, I personally don't understand how someone might read that and somehow take away nothing from it in understanding. I feel like it is written fairly clearly and effectively, but ofc that's just me and as with all things, YMMV.

anecdata: for my entire life, I have neber, until about 3 weeks ago, owned a laptop with any type of gpu other than an integrated graphics card built into the motherboard. for most of my life in fact I have never really had any modern or really serviceable hardware, as I've basically inherited all of my compute devices secondhand never had the money to just go out and buy a decent rig (or to even put one together for the matter, perhaps tbst will elucidate the economic sector which I have basic y always occupied. well, not always, as now that I'm homeless, I somehow went even LOWER! )

though it truly does excite me that I finally have something with some type of GeForce branded x graphics device inside of it, now I can finally run local machine learning tasks and not have to cloud it out

i believe you've misinterpreted the meaning of the word progressive here to refer to political progressives, rather than simply just "gradual/ongoing" which is what the use of it here suggests to me personally
