This is one way to handle the problem, but not the only...

These specialized tools are likely the cause for the increased complexity within Postgres. I would imagine that if we had more individuals focused solely on Postgres, there would be more discussions, articles, and solutions for a lot of the problems "solved" by adding more tools to the problem.

I don't understand why the answer is to always bloat the system with more specialized software and technical debt, instead of optimizing the existing system. If Postgres can truly handle all of these situations, then mastery of that one tool should be focused on.

I guess its more the rapid start-up mindset to get it up and running fast to sell the company, and leave the problem for someone else which is why a lot of our world is falling apart...

> When we were using Hypercard or BASIC to make dumb little programs, we weren't learning any of that stuff either, really.

> Making apps is so complicated now

Well that is not entirely true, I recall trying to learn game development. A lot of the time I spent was searching posts on web forums or asking questions in DAL/EF/Free/etc net and getting told to learn how to ask a question... not only that but I had learned it was better to write games not engines. Though I still managed to find out about GDI, which led me to DirectX, OpenGL, and then SDL. Those were scary... This is also when I learned about modding games, specifically Half-Life modding, which for some reason led me to creating bots for Counter-Strike just because I could and that is when I learned ladders are really difficult.

The load times of VC6 versus VSCode... yeah. I would bet you can load a VC6 project faster in OP's environment faster than VSCode could load the same project in a current environment.

Yet here we are compounding the issues by adding more and more layers to these systems... The higher the level it becomes the more security risks we take.

Just know that it will still get cracked and cheats will exist. I suspect this is Microsoft's next "console" as they have been developing "anti-cheat" for quite some time.

Why even question it? Its a donation that no one ever had to make.

Just a thought, maybe a "tunnel vision" mask toggle? So I can focus on the center of the screen without all the peripheral noise. It doesn't have to be a significant loss, but dark edges and corners with a nice fade to the visible circle in the center. Whatever that equates to..

Unrelated, but I wonder if the OP's dog moves from the bed to the floor because the radiator turns on? might need more sensor data :D

As others have stated this is not what the article/study states, also speed is related to a street drug with unknown dosage and control. While the prescribed pharmaceutical-grade medication is precise and well managed with slow release mechanism, making it vastly different from the street drug.

> Just look at the recent CVS Caremark forced switch from Zepbound (2nd Gen) to Wegovy (1st Gen) in July.

This is something I wasn't aware of, are you on 2nd gen Zepbound then?

My wife has been plateaued at an undesirable weight and has been wanting to try this, however, the VA refuses to support it regardless of the fact she fits their guidelines and requirements to receive it. They recently banned it due to costs.

I prefer her to use Zepbound if we can get it, the question is how? We refuse to use the alternative methods where the drug is hand made to be equivalent to them as that seems very sketchy.

Inelegant was the state of the Internet back then, I loved it.

Yeah I am in the same boat, I have a lot of airthings products primarily for the radon measurements, which is at the same price point.

you sound like me, I was a little younger though ... aimbots, wallhacks, esp, textures, radar, it was all intriguing and I hated encountering cheaters in CS 1.4 and 1.5. I also began dabbling in writing bots around this time, as POD Bot was awesome!

php had also been a thing of mine, I spent many months in DALnet and EFnet #php. Primarily around the time of v3 prior to v4's big launch...

It's also an extremely niche field, with a very high attrition rate in terms of training, and few people are truly capable of working in that industry. There will be retraining for certain, and a reduction in pay/rank. They certainly do not need to lose their job over a mishap, while an egregious one, it is still a trainable moment.
