I think "through writing" / "write to think/feel" a lot (usually in a mix of 1st/2nd person, 5-6 pages of text per day on avg.). Think: stream-of-consciousness writing, journaling, but also just keeping a screen with disappearing text notes at hand (append-only) where I ramble.

That being said, not many things can compete with talking at your dog for an hour or so.

Yes, although I don't think this effort is futile as you seem to be implying.

A more interesting question is how much effort we're willing to put into making those choices. My answer was posting here and doing a bit of research. Maybe I'll stick with Mullvad for the time being, maybe I won't and I'll help a few people make the same choice. It's better than shrugging and being defeatist, cynicism is cheap.

Asking for a friend, who is in a somewhat similar predicament — it wasn’t Portugal, was it?

The lack of colour is actually quite cool (and it’s a fun creative constraint). But the lack of backlight and usb (iirc) is annoying. The first because you can’t use it in bed and I like to play something cosy/silly in low light (https://untested.sonnet.io/notes/obsidian-for-vampires/).

The second - because now I need a companion app/script to handle comms over WiFi (bonjour). You can use cable, but if I could pair this with my phone… as a personal assistant - that would be amazing!

I mean it's 100-160 mHz CPU, 16 MB RAM, 4 GB storage -- you could run diablo 1 on it!

Playdate (the came console) is amazing for this! I was really bored once and built a Claude Code remote control for Playdate.

Voice recognition was done via parrot + handy.computer Basically: different key combos were tied to different actions, e.g. \

    - hold A to speak
    - move the crank slowly to navigate
    - crank super fast to send the prompt
Eventually this became a universal remote control for the computers in my home (YAML file with bindings from Playdate UI → A11y events). Using the crank to control movies is fun!

(I can share the source -- just let me know if this is actually useful)

Also, I feel like the author and me have similar hobbies. A few years back I almost won a (re-sellable on Ebay) award for https://meat-gpt.sonnet.io !

(I lost to a gallery of 3d sandwiches)

A wooden / e-ink version of enso.sonnet.io (working title "writer's log" or "writer's block")

In my experience (PDF contract sent by a house seller), copy paste was broken.

That said, after 15 minutes of gently massaging the PDF with claude, it was pretty easy to drop the substitutions and restore the original text.

Greg! I love this!!! Just last night I was trying to rewatch the x-files and was telling Luna that I would need to get a TV filter/shader/overlay thingy to see it the way it was meant to be seen.

You mind reader you

The cost is your attention, your mental health, as well as buying things you didn’t know you needed or didn’t know you didn’t need. It’s not a level playing field.

Thanks!

Just checked their site, but I don't see "jump to a tmux pane / browser tab" in the features there...

WM psychosis time:

My current "WM workflow"/window management keyboard shortcuts is:

    neovim → tmux → Ghostty → Rectangle → OS

so moving to the left window/pane is (depending on the "nesting level"):

    ctrl+h, ctrl+a + {number}, cmd + [, option-ctrl-left, ??

This is what happens when you spend years overthinking / fighting the walled garden UX. The sad part is that I'm kinda OK with this at this stage (besides 1-2 days a year, when my mental faculties are lowered and I decide to _fix it_).

A global fzf / rectangle / alfred shortcut for all "windows and panes" would be great.

Unfortunately, at this stage, my overthinking/poor ux induced psychosis reached the point where I control Claude using voice and a Playdate console with a crank and I'm day dreaming about just looking at the pane I need and making a click sound with my mouth to select it (like Neddy in Adventure time).

Is it different from Rectangle? (I've been using it for ages)

> And between ads, cookie popups, newsletter popups, notification permission popups, websites with a high Time to First Byte, and all the useless filler around the content, websites are a nightmare to browse

Yes, but most of these things are results of adtech having so much impact on the web/how we publish/consume/get paid for the content we create. I'm a bit bitter/sad about this.

I’m working on one! It’s early stage, but it’s relatively low latency e paper writing tool with my writing tool Ensō.

I’m calling it Writer’s Block. (I love carpentry and want it to look a bit like a wooden pencil case.) the prototype will be a literal log of wood (guess the name). It makes sense because the larger form factor allows for faster prototyping!
