Besides the mentioned comments Spanish speaking immigration is much more welcomed by radical right AND Germany had a lot of German speaking immigration from Eastern Europe. There are just no German speaking minorities left in other countries.

I think you make an too easy argument: Compared to e.g. Christian places in Europe where people still the same tongue like before the Christianisation (roughly speaking), Aramic, Demotic or Berbic languages, once majority languages are now minority languages in Arabic enviroments. Ironically Aramic and Demotic are spoken mostly by Christian minorities.

Also I see the Islamic movement in recent years pushing for Islamic homogeneous countries and driving ethnic, religious, language and sexual minorities out of their homelands (mainly into Europe).

Compare to today (often secular) European counterparts Arabic nations are homogenous and root cause was Anti enlightenment ideologies.

"And do you think the people in Europe are voluntarily a part of your undeclared, but very much existing, empire?"

I think most people are voluntary part of the EU or Germany. Both aren't empires because the broad majority of people living in these entities wants to be part of the entity.

I think this shows how much we need better democratic institutions like a full functioning parliament and (in my view) direct democracy on EU level.

If the councils make stupid ideas, citizen could start an initiative or at least the MEP can annoy the commission.

I believe just someone who got too deep into Russian propaganda rabbid hole. The comment is too leaky for somebody working in St. Petersburg / a LLM.

" Europe is relatively a much smaller fraction of the global economy or population than it was a few decades ago. It is militarily less significant. How is that not a decline? "

Yes and most of my friends are aware. It isnt a big problem because Quality of Life is still very fine. So present your arguments. How are people in denial?

Thanks and you're right I misread the sentence (in line with other commentaters). Though because of xenophobia there was much hesitation against open borders (e.g. Germany and Poland, where Germen didnt like incoming Polish)

"Europe has open borders and this hasn't facilitated any increase in xenophobia that I'm aware of, despite many countries having many immigrants."

My guess you are naive but intra European racism was always a thing (easy example was Hitler). The EU tries to combat it and reduced definitely thanks to Erasmus, better weath of East Europe, well open borders but oh boy it still exists.

I only would consider people worthy to discuss if they are agree on this. Most of the time people dont.
