"can't deal with the isolating nature" sounds like other people do feel a different need/reason to socialise no? People can pretend to socialise for one reason when really it's another, but people need to be interested in meeting this third need at least occasionally for the pretense to be worth trying.

Not just for the LLMs

Seems copyright works in part because of the effort involved in producing something that's similar to something else. You can't just copy and it takes effort to make something different enough, that gives the original a bit of a "moat".

If you take away enough of that effort, the investment in new stuff becomes unviable, perhaps.

Expect this to debate to come back with the growth of cloud-based IDEs

The hard tutorial/real game divide has another disadvantage, sometimes I forget mechanics straight away and spend the rest of the game (until I get bored/stuck) overusing the one I remember

Depending on the situation it can be risky to start thinking like this, trying to fix stuff with lots of stress, in secret, maybe working around access restrictions, it's easy to make further mistakes

People have been murdering, stealing, etc since people have existed, doesn't mean we should just shrug our shoulders

They could be gambling on us not enforcing it (having shown signs that we think it's excessive). But others have said this is more about the Digital Markets Act.

*I get a GDPR-looking privacy popup on Threads in the UK so I'm inclined to agree

Phones are pretty bad for the group who are scared of breaking something and so don't just try the first thing they guess.

Delete: maybe tap and hold, then three dots or an (i), maybe swipe right/left/either.

Close an image: probably pull down from the top but not always.

Undo: Shake the phone like an etch-a-sketch???

Whereas Outlook Express, for example, looking at screenshots, had a big red X with Delete written underneath it in the toolbar. And your mouse had a physical button dedicated to stuff that's now hidden away behind long-press or swipe or the (i) or whatever.

We (some of us at least) have been calling simple logic in computer games AI. And an artificial plant means some plastic shaped like a plant, it can't do photosynthesis, it can't grow, it can't reproduce. Meanwhile current AIs can code, explain a joke, etc.

After all an artifice: (the use of) a clever trick or something intended to deceive

I haven't tried to push the subject too hard but NHS dentists will at least in some cases just say "you'll need a crown afterwards" and that's that.

Also

> If you need treatment from more than 1 dental band as part of your treatment plan, you will only be charged the cost of the highest band. You will not be charged for each individual treatment.
