Well they get lots of fines and fees from court and jail when someone is charged. But even if the stolen plate isn't really stolen its an easy excuse to pull someone over and catch them for other crimes. It's why cops sit around fast clear roads and pulling everyone going 5 over but aren't giving speeding tickets. They are fishing for usually drug related crimes but also people on probation or behind on their license or tags, or technical DUIs if someone admits to taking a narcotic at lunch. They legally can't pull law biding citizens over randomly just to check, so they need and find excuses to do so and shitty ai flags are good enough.

Or they don't have to care about mistakes because most people are too poor to pursue a case against local cops and courts or flock. Any excuse to pull someone over will be used by police to extort people because thats how cops and courts fund themselves, they will always fall back on "it was procedure, therefore we hold no liability." There are more than enough victimless crimes on the books with high monetary penalties to just drag net citizens and profit.

Yeah, I treat my phone like a landline phone. If I don't answer right away then you gotta leave a message and ill see it when I have a break to check it or not.

Im not sure being available 24/7 365 by everybody for every reason is mentally healthy.

Its obviosly more dangerous with medicine but I see the same thing with other non-tech topics here like agriculture and construction trades so I always take non-tech topic comments with a grain of salt on here. There is a good diversity of experts on here but of course they can't be expected to correct everybody all the time.

Ive seen a few single hose AC units that worked okay. I still don't understand why they exist though. The window installment at its minimum span is still putting the ends quite far apart and would increase efficiency.

My house in the US has windows like that. I have a cut and painted board to replace the window with in the summer because of it. I hate these windows because of that though.

Because they shouldn't be scanning private messages indiscriminately no matter for what. Lets rephrase it and look at it from "private companies will scan their users private messages for evidence of crimes and report people to police." Where is the limit here? I think it is naive to assume this will stop at csam and will soon be used as a judicial bludgen to extort random citizens for petty crimes that in any other case nobody would ever care or know about.

If you move to a rural area your "neighbors" should be far enough away that they and you won't care if each of you are banging plates of metal together, shooting guns, revving engines, blowing things up, or whatever else.

Plenty of places people can move without others around. I might feel a bit of empathy for someone living surrounded by farmland and having a city built up around them, but that is incredibly rare and even in that case that only makes their property far more valuable to sell and move to another cheap rural area. If someone moves into an expanding suburb or right on the edge of a city and complains about the city expanding, zero empathy, they should of thought about that when they bought the property.

I think consensual duels should still be legal. Numerous states have laws about mutual combat where it is perfectly legal to beat the fuck out of each other.

Loud action movies seem to help a friend of mine's dog who otherwise acted like fireworks were the devil incarnate.
