The comment says "do you agree?", not "don't you agree?". I agree that the latter sounds condescending, but the former sounds reasonable to me.

> I would love to expand these articles, but the "culture" of Wikipedia actively works against this.

Can you expand on this? I've only had positive experiences editing for Wikipedia as a newbie.

Right, but what prompted it was the situation I described. Nobody asked for this.

You realize this was a publishing company deciding, completely unprompted and out of their own volition, that they don't want to publish these books, right? Whose freedom of speech is being violated here?

It's hilarious to me that a publishing company decided to cancel themselves, simultaneously painting the picture that they're the villain and the victim depending on which side of the political spectrum you are.

And the best part is that it worked perfectly. In this very thread you can see people saying this is the fault of "woke Twitter mobs" when literally nobody asked for this. Great PR move by them, and as always outrage is the best way to sell.

This is complete insanity to me. So now you're not only selling your knowledge and your time, but you're also selling your complete undivided attention with likely no changes to your paycheck. How do you employ someone and give them access to your company's systems but not give them the absolute minimum amount of trust? It makes no sense.

I have the same MOBO. Does it lock up entirely, or just gets stuck in that screen with the spinning white thing? If the latter, it just takes a really long time.

The problem is you're dismissing a valid suggestion based on an assumption you came up with yourself. I understand your point but I feel like it was misplaced here.

This was an interesting read because it's exactly what I talked about in my session yesterday, but would never be able to explain with my own words. Thank you for sharing, and I'll bookmark your comment as a resource to guide people to when they're on the fence about therapy.

What about their response makes you think it was a non answer? I specifically opened this thread to share the exact same experience, as therapy has helped my professional life much more than any book or tool I ever bought.

I've never had issues with public transportation in Brazil (living in small, medium and large cities). For the 5 years that I worked in person, I took the bus to work every day and I can only remember it failing me once.

Admittedly sometimes I'd fall asleep and miss my stop.

I worked at a startup where the CTO was the impressionable junior and it caused all of those issues you described and more. I ended up leaving when I decided I shouldn't be having panic attacks in the middle of the night due to ridiculously tight deadlines that I couldn't meet because of the overhead introduced by k8s and microservices.

I'm personally a fan of MusicBrainz (and related projects). It takes a lot of work to build a completely free and open database like that. I wish it could be expanded to other areas, but that would require more people.
