Ah yes, the “lowest common denominator” argument. Personally, I hate the idea that everyone should be punished because some people can’t handle something.
1. Since it's an extended display over wireless, bandwidth limitations mean you're limited to just a single 4k resolution monitor floating in space (they mentioned that it simulates a single 4k monitor in the demo)
2. You also would have to bring your laptop with you
To me, one of the major value propositions for something like the Vision Pro would be that it could replace your laptop entirely. But it doesn't seem like that will be the case, at least based on what they've announced.
Ah yes, but those apps appear to be just some kind of iOS type thing, so at least for me I couldn’t really use them for productivity. (The lack of coding tools on iOS also really kills any possible productive uses of my iPad in this way, unfortunately)
(That’s why I was focusing more on the mirror-your-Mac functionality)
That applies regardless of whether or not the tv is “smart” - my current “smart” Roku TV runs great, and I had an old “dumb” Samsung that took forever to do anything.
Well-written software is what helps here, not smartness or lack thereof.
The issue here is that your proposed approach is very English-focused. Not every language would allow for a straightforward "pronouns" selector that would result in a meaningful data point.
I think we can safely assume that parent commenter was upset that their favorite Important Political Opinion was not presented as an absolute fact on Wikipedia.
Well then, I hope that perhaps you and similarly-minded engineers can channel that frustration into pressuring your incompetent leadership to alter their policy of mindlessly killing products.
What I find particularly egregious is that when Apple requests to track users, they use the text "Allow Apple to personalize your experience?", while for 3rd parties they use the much scarier "allow this app to track you?" prompt
Roscosmos, the space program that's still flying the exact same equipment that it did in the 60s and has made no efforts to improve since then? Yes, that one. Buran+Energia was a generational leap forward, and it all fell apart when the Soviet Union collapsed.
Considering that I described territorial conquest as "bad", I think we can safely say I did not mean Afghanistan.
I assume this just means that they'll require a "Meta" account instead of a Facebook account, and it will come with all the same problems as creating a Facebook account.
Also, their "support" for sideloading, while better than nothing, requires a valid phone number or credit card number to sideload anything.
Interesting, I had assumed they just didn’t know that lead was bad back then. What’s even weirder is how there are still people today who insist that banning leaded gasoline was an key example of government overreach.
Someone once was arguing this point to me and I just had to drop the topic because it was such a baffling stance.
In Apple's defense, it is still two of those things. (No longer slow though!)
