At what point is this a public health issue though? If the policy failures during this era end up leading to a state of mass famine, emigration, and death rivialing the disruption caused by COVID, is it a public health issue yet?
How can you say who cares when every republican member of congress either disputes or outright denies the scientific consensus on climate change and attempts to prevent all meaningful action? I'm still young, and it feels like my future, and the futures of future generations, are evaporating in front of me.
In my more jaded moments I wonder if at this point assassinating certain politicians could justified as self defense...

So convinced that something really bad is about to happen that prevention justifies any means, even assassinations?
You sound like any other madman.
I didn't say any means. I'm not at the point where I'm willing to degrade democracy like that.
But its sort of like asking if it would have been okay to assassinate Hitler (he was elected remember) before the holocaust took place, but the writing was on the wall.
What does a politians life, your life, or my life mean in the face of untold suffering of millions of people for countless generations?
What about you? Where would you draw the line? Would you say that George W's life outweighs the trillian dollars in national debt and 150K-1M civilian casualties? If you knew you could have averted all that from just killing him, did it, turned yourself in, when you were executed would you be a villain or a hero?

Another "everyone must think as I think or else" person can't handle other people's opinions. What news.
Ugh, right? I've found the worst people for this are teachers. Try saying in school "2 + 2 = 5", they'll go crazy and just won't accept alternative opinions. One teacher tried to flunk me once just because I believe -1 * -1 = -1. Those snowflakes just keep saying "you're wrong" and "trust the mathematical establishment". Sheep!
This is even more disingenuous than the OP.
A pile of papers and consensus among the academic elite and their funders is quite different than proofs in mathematics, which are self-evidently true, or logical inferences from axioms which one can choose to accept or not.

By the 'academic elite' you mean 98.7% consensus among experts?[1]

Doesn‘t that number alone arouse suspicion in you? I suggest you read the paper in question and ask yourself if their methods really measure what they claim.
What number would you not find suspicious?
Presumably 1 in 10 dentists.
I wonder what the parent poster would think about the consensus on evolution, or gravity.

I disagree with the "misinformation" label generally. But I can see with voting or public health how there is a public interest in people receiving correct information (ignoring that authorities have lost all credibility on the larger anyway).
But when it comes to politics, or "science" if we insist on calling it that, an official narrative is counterproductive and everyone has a right to say what they want, even if it's "wrong" or you don't agree. TMZ may be a source of celebrity misinformation. Who cares.
