Who cares? They'll be cheaper and quicker to get online than the big reactors. Who wants to wait 11 years for electricity?
The article says they are not cheaper.
While they're not as economical long-term as a traditional reactor, they're cheaper and much faster to bring online. It takes decades to get a traditional reactor online.
Nor quicker to bring online.
Let’s also not forget that Trump stacked the nuclear regulatory commission with his appointees. Now he gets to decide winners and losers by choosing to approve designs from friends but not other competitors. Can any approved design, even if it is actually ordered and deployed, be trusted by the public?
I'm imagining the nuclear reactor version of the reflecting pool.
