I was just involved in the hiring process for a new rec on a team adjacent to mine, and the HR/screening process was a complete mystery as to candidate filtering for outside applicants. So many AI tools making arbitrary judgments from resume content to psychological profiles of candidates, led us to 0 organic people “qualified” enough to interview for an SRE/Devops role. All we hire now is referrals as they are the only ones to get pass automated screening
Sounds close to my team. I just fall in line and let the agents do whatever while I sleep, do laundry or game. Check in occasionally to hit “yes” on prompts.
At least that ai slop makes money. I’ve seen human-created slop make nothing and still require the same effort and cost to uplift architecture/code to a useable state.
The problem is the anti work mentality and other demotivating factors are a product societal issues. What existential question is being answered by improving productivity and velocity?
