It is likely that much of the transmission is not even caused by the oral and nasal areas, but instead is due to fecal aerosols.
Our best solution may be the abolition of apartments and shared housing. SOme sort of filter should be put on the toilets, not on our faces.
Cleansing chemicals(like bleach) should be put in the toilets, not in our arms.
Let us remember that choices should be made carefully, with consideration, and only once all of the facts are present.
Let us not be hasty-We must wait until a length of time has past in which effects which take alonger time to present themselves are presented.

They start with their conclusion. They rarely commence an empirical study, because that might prove their prepared conclusion wrong! A model, which can be used in place of reality, is not reality, and never will be.

Properly gained empirical evidence should be used, and it even should not be trusted if it points to you doing something stupid-like wearing a tissue on your face all day.

I'll also note that natural gas use is rising compared to that of coal because of one of the biggest faults of renewables.
Renewables cannot just be turned on and off, and will often show little or no power output during some period of time, at night, when its cloudy, and when its not windy. During this time, a natural gas plant can be quickly turned on, and run at the power necessary to make up for any lack in the renewable's output.
Coal cannot do this; coal plants are harder to power up and down, and they need to be run at a single output for optimum efficiency.
Coal itself is a very energy-dense fuel, and for this reason, as well as its ubiquity, is a very good fuel choice, and remains to be so for countries such as china, which also lack oil. The other big fault of coal is toxic emissions such as sulfur. Nuclear is of course the best of these, as its source is incredibly energy dense. Unfortunately, nuclear plants are being shut down, not opened, because of utilities or governments not wanting to maintain them, because of price or pressure not to. I do wish that nuclear would be adopted and become the main fuel used worldwide, but I just do not see that happening.
I believe that AI cannot solve this problem by generating a better algorithm. The only algorithm that will give the most optimal result is brute force, trying every possible combination. Any form of deep learning will only do as well as it gets closer to that, and require just as much computation. The advent of working quantum computers and other hardware gains will be the only solution. There is no software that can solve the traveling salesman problem, nor will there ever be, without much better hardware.
