Wouldn't it be fun if those who are in favour of such measures were the first to behave their messages scanned?

That Model M SSK looks real nice. I have not one but two Filco Majestouch 2 TKL with brown MX keys, one for 12 years and counting. They are so much heavier, nicer compared to what I got recently second hand: a WASD with a very wobbly case.

In peacetimes, yes, but if it's defensive war I don't see many arguments against a draft, it can't be generalized though.

There's weirder things in existence like SPAC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special-purpose_acquisition_co...

Stopping a driver at 1AM gives the cops a better chance at "solving a crime".

He should keep a log book for his police encounters, categorized by ticket with every cop putting their name and number into it so he can show the cops how often they waste everybody's time...

Solar farms come with batteries included these days https://reneweconomy.com.au/the-solar-farm-that-winds-down-a... and https://octopusaustralia.com.au/our-projects/fulham-solar-fa... and https://edp.com/en/asia-pacific/australia/merino-solar-farm and https://www.pv-magazine-australia.com/2026/06/23/australias-... That's a new trend and easy to miss but it will push out coal and gas.

And as much as a cyclist I dislike cars, the nice thing about electric cars is the potential that most often they can be charged at a time when it is convenient for the network. Mind you, cars just sit around 95% of the time.

With the prices for solar (the expensive parts are not the panels but the inverters and labour costs) and batteries still going down you will get more than what you thought when you started to spend the first billion.

I'd like to factor in the cost of games, but then my Steam library might be a little bigger than the average... Am I willing to pay €60 for a game? Rarely. Am I willing for the spring/summer/winter sale on Steam? Yes!

Who knows, maybe once the AI bubble has burst they will surprise us with a replacement mainboard for this second gen. If they want to keep it in sale as long as the Steamdeck it would make sense to offer gamers a simple way to upgrade their existing machine when Steam's ecosystem is already open to all sides. Maybe they'll even outsource that mainboard upgrade to ASUS, MSI or others. Once we see a teardown we can make a better prediction.

I'm pretty sure they would have loved to put a better GPU chip in but that would have cost too much extra in these mad days.

StarLink is the only thing about SpaceX that makes a profit. But that's only possible because no one else has a network up there hence it can ask for any price it want. Let's not forget that before StarLink there was Iridium and it got ousted because there was a better offer and I wouldn't be surprised if some other company will eventually go up with a better offer.

There's more than one way but this lists packages not installed by pacman itself:

    pacman -Qm
Only 237 on my 12 year old system but I rarely update AUR packages and usually try to remove unused ones before updating.

Sure, but they are running web-apps they've vibe-coded (hence the .vibe tld) and for that use-case of many web apps that I run in docker containers I use nginx-proxy [0]. All the container needs is a VIRTUAL_HOST environment variable with the domain and what my router needs is an address entry for the wildcard subdomains. I even have nginx-proxy on a internet-accessible staging server.

What a ridiculous AI generated photo. The guy with the glasses wears different shoes!

Anyways... interesting idea, it is taking noise-cancellation headphones a few steps further and those do work for many.

The truth of the matter in a field that still needs more thorough studies and a better understanding in the experts in the field who write the diagnosis? Barkley has a few videos on those with counterpoints, the pattern here is to look if ADHD and autism are actually their focus and in the case of studies, if they take the fundamentals into account. Fundamentals like ADHD most often being hereditary. E.g. I read a study about ADHD self-diagnosis and social media and it completely lacking numbers on how likely a self-diagnosis is correct, whether the subjects had a previous diagnosi like depression (a common mis-diagnosis) or how competent the doctors were in the field of ADHD. That study gets attention, ironically, with its claim that social media causes more self-diagnois, but it's those details you want to watch out for when reading counterpoints.

There's no contradiction between the inability to focus (at will) and hyper focus. As an analogy, a car you build for a land speed record is fantastic at the salt flats but usually really bad when it comes to corners or transporting your groceries.

My brother was diagnosed in his first year at school, didn't help prevent his criminal career later on. Diagnosis, even a self-diagnosis like I did at 42, is just the first step but for kids the right actions and help could indeed prevent so much suffering. Self-medication, drug abuse to calm down the mind, can be prevented quite easily with proper ADHD medication that shows a great rate of success.

Studies from Norway and the US show results fitting this one https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12888-021-03223-0 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2581455/

I'll give it a try and let me know if you need a German translation.

I recently started using beaverhabits https://github.com/daya0576/beaverhabits/ for its simplicity but obviously I love gamification.

A few things I noticed though: * I'd love to add a task to a future date. * A flag on (future) tasks to notify when I ought to start them * Please pre-fill the minutes with 00 * The icons selection for the profiles is a bit boring. Why not just a search across whatever icon font (unicode?) you use? * Is there a dedicated view for just the profile without the noise around it? * There's a little animation that moves a task up when I hover it on desktop, is that by design?

Before posting your comments, please can you read the article first and do a little more research including what people with ADHD experienced in their life before they got their diagnosis and help?

Many get (mis-)diagnosed with depression where the meds are much less easy and effective compared to ADHD. Un-diagnosed ADHD often leads to self-medication with alcohol or drugs, two things with very adverse side-effects even though one of them is legal. Studies show that treating ADHD with medication does lower the risk of substance abuse: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4147667/

Btw, there are no indications that ADHD medication has a positive long-term effect in non-medical use. If you can already focus your mind at the things before you without ADHD medication then you'd only waste your money if you took meds.

PS: Don't call me Shirley

Fact? Far from and if only in a small minority. I know Gabor Maté likes to push trauma as a cause (as far as his ridiculous remote diagnosis of Prince Harry), if not main cause for ADHD but the vast majority of ADHD is due to genetics, 70-80% as the article states. Don't forget siblings and parents when looking at an ADHD person. When the parent has ADHD there's a higher risk for the child to have adverse experiences as this study describes: https://www.academicpedsjnl.net/article/S1876-2859(16)30416-...
