This isn't correct. You can embed the original RAW file within the converted one.

Who uses search engines anymore?

Most new data is on Facebook/Twitter/Discord etc. Shoppers search on Amazon. Video consumers search on YouTube.

My point is that is must be *super easy* to build a search engine nowadays. You only need the best 10% of websites and you have got most of the quality content. Vast majority of websites are now irrelevant remains of the old internet.

Most searches could be answered by their Siri system.

Therefore Apple could build a functional search engine in months, and I guess they already have one ready to go for when it is needed.

I'm now using this and I like it very much, tiny and superfast, better than the slow bloat of WinCompose.

Build notes for those from the future (I use Windows 7):

1) Install Cygwin, including mingw64-x86_64-gcc-core package

2) Edit build.sh file to replace compiler from CC=gcc to CC=x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc

This provides a native exe without dependancy on cygwin1.dll

This WinCompose app seemed to be what I've been looking for, but it didn't work for me.

Just so sluggish, sometimes missing keystrokes or waiting for it to catch up. Keyboard is one of those things that have to be INSTANT, even milliseconds is too long. This app is way to slow.

It seems to be written in .NET? Which would be a very poor choice for such an app.

EDIT: I presumed the sluggishness was because of .NET, perhaps my thinking is a bit dated.

You have misunderstood the entire tech story.

Apple are scanning the images only when they are uploaded to iCloud, because they don't want the CSAM pictures on their servers.

And you're not alone. Reddit, Facebook, Twitter etc are full of shouting angry people who haven't understood the story at all.

It's almost became a Rorschach test between those who understand technology and those who like to shout at things.

"people freak out cause the app uses slightly more energy"

Multiply the "slightly" by 100 million installs!

How can a password manager require 80 threads to run on a Mac?Old version required 12.

Can we start talking in terms of "Environmental Impact"?

Work out the energy use per hour of the old vs the new system * number of installs. See how much extra millions of tons of carbon 1password is spewing into the air because of their technology change!

Reminder: when a company chooses a technology stack that suits them (the developers of the software) and NOT the end users, then things tend to go badly.
