curious about this jsr.io thing linked in the article. as a package author, the promise of a package registry that makes things “just work” really excites me, but the website provides no real details.
not to be the “but rust” person, but I’m curious why Rust wasn’t in the test group. it seems to meet all their criteria, though the community was a bit smaller back then.
Go is a perfectly reasonable choice though, and easier to learn on average.
calling USB A “legacy” and a “relic” is so misplaced. we all still own USB A devices. I challenge the author to go find a wired keyboard or mouse that comes with a USB C plug. it’s possible, but not easy.
the thing is, we could just have both! this isn’t some winner/loser scenario. the real question should be why these computers with enough bandwidth for 11+ connectors don’t at least split the difference with 6/5 of each. gives device manufacturers enough confidence that customers will be able to plug in the thing they bought, and gives consumers the ability to plug in anything and everything they need. then in 5 years when things have advanced we can start talking about entirely consolidating on USB C.
again, I would really like to hear what the "activists" are demanding that you think is so unreasonable.
that's a lot to assume from a couple words on a website, but if you're this fun at parties we must really be missing out.

trans rights are incredibly well defined, actually. they’re human rights. trans people deserve the same rights as every other human. idk what “problematic statements” you’ve heard but it sounds like you need to listen to less ben shapiro. saying you’ve heard “several” without providing any examples sounds like you just don’t like trans people.
I think it’s safe to assume that when a community claims to contain “no nazi bullshit”, they mean that it contains no nazis or their associated bullshit. if you’re worried that that includes you or people you sympathize with, ask yourself “_why_?”, because it makes a lot of sense to everyone in the quite active gleam community.

go click on any package with substantial downloads. svelte is the same way, the downtick is just less visible because of a weirdly massive spike in their downloads.
You do have to build it from source, but the documentation for how to do so is luckily quite good, and there's a dedicated channel in the Discord server for helping people with build issues if you run into any problems.
You're obviously not obligated, but I'd encourage you to try building it if you're interested!

because it's a text editor that's already fully capable of editing text. not every thing needs to constantly evolve and add features at a break-neck pace.
