Gaming support for Linux still isn’t 100% there like Windows. It’s still about a 50/50 chance a popular AAA or indie pc game supports Linux.

Right, they're saying you only see the side of the resellers, you have no idea the number of people who purchased it to keep it (like many of us in the thread). So in reality you may be only seeing less than 1% of stock for resell and not the 99% that are just buying it to keep it like normal. It's just confirmation bias that you assume everyone is buying to resell it cause that's all you're able to see.

I don't fully understand this narrative that is going around about scalpers and the controller. So many people online are claiming it was only scalpers who were able to purchase one. I am also not a scalper (as someone else said), and was able to purchase one. We don't know how many they actually had in stock in total but let's say it's around 30K, from what I have searched on eBay and other reselling sites it would only seem like less than 1% of the stock is being sold by resellers/scalpers. I think it was just a high demand product. I know scalpers are a problem in much of the entertainment industry right now, but it's also becoming a scape goat for anything you just weren't able to buy yourself. It's quite annoying and getting old fast.

It’s obviously a meme website, the meme is more funny when the number isn’t high. Anyone looking for actual accurate info would go to the real status page.

> I'm in senior leadership, and have made it clear that anyone who has worked on these products should not be hired.

Can't say I agree with that specific take (and find it a bit naive to be honest), unless you're also not hiring anyone from companies like Amazon, Meta, and all the other tech companies that have also ruined/preyed on society in their own way just as much as any gambling app has.

Slightly related, as someone who doesn’t engage in this type of work, I’m curious about the potential risks associated with discovering, testing, and searching for security bugs. While it’s undoubtedly positive that this individual ultimately became a responsible person and disclosed the information, what if they hadn’t? Furthermore, on Discord’s side, what if they were unaware of this person and encountered someone attempting to snoop on this information, mistakenly believing them to be up to no good? Has there been cases where the risk involved wasn’t justified by the relatively low $4k reward? Or any specific companies you wouldn’t want to do this with because of a past incident with them?

> The Paradox Mods platform will remain the only officially supported mod hub, so deep code mods akin to CS1’s may never return.

As someone else pointed out, this is false. I have also created mods for both CS2/CS1 and I would even say it's the opposite. In my opinion, CS2 allows for even deeper code mods because they have mod tooling built right into the game unlike CS1. The host of the mods (Steam Workshop vs Paradox Mods) doesn't change anything related to mod capabilities.

> ...its long-time partner Colossal Order announced a quiet but monumental shift.

Ah yes, "quiet", like how it's been posted on every CS2 social media account, and blasted in every possible space of CS2. Haha Absolutely nothing "quiet" about it.

For majority that want to switch but can’t yet, gaming is the biggest pillar still very far behind. Many popular games (and game related apps) don’t work on Linux, sadly. I don’t know if it’s ever going to change either because of it being a chicken or egg scenario where they don’t want to spend the time supporting it cause it’s not enough users, but it’s also not enough users cause it’s not supported.

I wish there was a Max trial (while on Pro) to test if this was the case or not. Even if it was just a 24 hour trial. Max is an expensive trigger to pull, and hope it just solves this.

How are people using this without getting rate limited non stop? I pay for Claude Pro and I sometimes can’t go more than 5 prompts in an hour without it saying I need to wait 4 hours for a cooldown. I feel like I’m using it wrong or something, it’s such a frustrating experience. How do you give it any real code context without using all your tokens so quickly?

I 100% agree with this, as an active Mint user. The integrations lately are terrible. I have to reconnect most accounts almost weekly, and they usually still fail after that. It's incredibly frustrating.

This doesn't align with what I see in my Activitiy Monitor when I open it up and look at the Slack usage. I don't know a ton about this stuff, so maybe it's a relative thing, but my Mac has next to no problems with Slack like he's raging over in this post. The memory footprint is way smaller than his screenshots show. I also have 10 workspaces connected (not sure how that plays into it).

> I mean come on. Its a text chat program.

Seriously? To boil Slack down to just a chat program is silly, when you look at all the feature it has with it (screen sharing, calling, file sharing, etc.).

Electron hate is the new PHP hate. As I've seen many others say before on HN, what people don't seem to get is the experience of using Electron is miles ahead of anything else in convenience. Instead of writing a blog post ranting about Electron, why not be constructive and talk about solutions or alternatives? Wouldn't that be more productive?

EDIT: Didn't realize this post was from 2016. Seems way out of date, carry on, nothing to see here.

Agreed 100%. It's the one app that truly does feel magical to me. And it still impresses people I show who don't use it regularly when we are out somewhere and they ask the age old "what song is this?" Pull out my phone, click one button, and in less than 5 seconds it's there. Blows my mind every-time.

Here is an old cnet article from 2015 that explains how to do it: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/get-a-spotify-or-rdio-playlist-o... - Probably just need to translate that flow to whatever the current Shazam UI is for settings.

This functionality has been around for a bit actually, you may have missed it. You have to connect your Spotify in the Shazam app. And every time you Shazam something it auto adds it to a "My Shazam Tracks" playlist in Spotify. Been using that feature from them for about a year now! :)

Shazam is the one app that has been around since about the birth of the iPhone that honestly still blows my mind in it's capabilities. The fact it can so quickly figure out any song in so many environments is incredible. Call me simple, but I use it almost daily, and it is accurate close to 98% of the time. I absolutely love Shazam's iOS app, and they have done a great job keeping up with UI/UX treads for it over the many years it has been around. Easily one of my favorite and most used apps.

With all that said, PLEASEEEEEE don't ruin it, Apple. Specifically meaning I love it's integration with Spotify. I will be bummed if that goes away for an exclusive Apple Music integration.
