I mean, in this context I agree. But most people doing math in high school or university are graded on their working of a problem, with the final result usually equating to a small proportion of the total marks received.
Can we leave these painfully overused sarcastic comments to reddit please? This adds nothing to the discussion. I've been seeing these types of comments more frequently on HN. What's happened to the moderation?
OP obviously meant people should wear a cardigan or jumper to keep themselves warm if they're not already. I swear at least 70% the comments on HN are just lazy straw man arguments and people like me wasting their time to point them out as such.
Do you have adblockers or did you turn them off for this experiment? I would assume most people on HN have adblockers and other browser ad ons to prevent the malicious tracking that so many companies are hell bent on using. It's an anomaly for me to see any ads on my devices.
Not to be a dick, but it's "losing", not "loosing". This is the most incorrectly spelt word on the Internet and it makes me irrationally irate. If English is not your native language then I apologise for my pedantic outburst.
I've been reading hacker news for years and I can't recall any piece of technology that seems to attract such vitriol and disdain from the community here.
Certain bitcoin criticisms are understandable, but painting the block chain and the whole crypto industry with a broad brush of 'scam', 'shady', 'useless' is just down right moronic and embarrassing.
Many of you claim to be technologists that leverage the power of technology to benefit humanity. Yet you can't plainly see how various projects in the space like ethereum, nano, chain link, cardano etc. have useful applications that will change the landscape of finance and economics forever.
Signal is a non-profit organisation. The way they are structured means they literally have no incentive to try and profit off their user base, no matter the size. I'm not saying it's not impossible that could change at some point in the future but right now they're clearly providing a net good for the world for private communication and there is no clear reason why that should change in the future as long they can continue to support themselves through donations.
However, when I've graduated I don't think I would ever call myself a physicist like yourself unless I actually went on to do research in physics as a career, which likely means following the traditional academic path of doing a PhD (since I'm not Freeman Dyson).
Sorry for the nitpick but such titles should be earned don't you think?
