HP needs to get out and stay out of the consumer world.
I used to love their printers, no more. They're unreliable and consumables are too expensive. Their computers used to be high-end with good reliability and excellent customer service, now they are just another me-too box.
That's the one put in at the behest of the NSA and DHS. You are not supposed to know about that one. You can't turn it off. Physically blocking it is a violation of the Patriot act. The idea started with Onstar and will now be an FCC requirement on all US phones.
There are now several comments in this thread suggesting that these 4" are "different" because of the new aspect ratio. That ratio is anything but new, it's the same 16:9 everyone nowadays uses and a 4" screen from other manufacturers would have a) the same shape as the new iPhone b) be just what that dcurt.is post was rambling on against.
Paypal and it's parent company ebay are notorious liars! They are also well known for abusing their members with ridiculous requests for info which cannot possibly be provided, and doing whatever they can to snatch and grab the money.
One other thing, they have a crew of hideous paid shills who's job it is to harass anyone speaking out against them. These shills know no boundaries when it comes to what they may try to do.
Paypal has a horrible reputation!
If they ever do change, you can open your account back up then.
The NSA and CIA are evil.
Stealing is ok as long as it's for a 'good' cause.
On a computer screen encrypted data is formatted the same as unencrypted data. I guess CRs, LFs and spaces don't get encrypted.
It's a hard problem and the current attempt at a solution encourages un-'engineery' behavior.
Good work in a specialist environment should, by all means, be worth MORE than carelessly and impatiently fudging around until the problem seems solved at first glance in an environment you could pick staff for from across the street.
Accelerando is a relatively well-known adult manga (also made into an anime) that, IIRC, has also been around longer than cstross' novel, so NSFW images are not an unreasonable answer to that query.
the whole point of the BSD (or any other permissive) license is that everyone is allowed to publish your code/binaries under a different license (including proprietary). if you want to prevent that from happening, you have to use a copyleft license (such as GPL). in this case there is nothing you can do, they are not violating the license, as long as their copy of the program still includes the original copyright notice (however, they don't have to give it to you so you can check).
the best you can do right now is learn from this and use a copyleft license for future releases of your program. that way everyone who distributes the program has to stick to the license you used and you can prevent it from being distributed as closed source.

HP has become short sighted.
