> You have to know, anything crowdfunded is very high risk.
People who ordered from Kanoa's site directly didn't "crowdfund" anything, they "pre-ordered" the headphones. They weren't gambling on Kickstarter. So what risk are you talking about? It has nothing to do with risk, it is fraud.
> I'm amazed some unscrupulous company has't abused it to take money with no intention of ever delivering a product.
there are plenty of million dollar fraudulent projects on Kickstarter, they don't care, they have only their reputation to loose.
> The touchbar is a problem looking for a solution. For the premium they charge for it I fail to see how it returns its value. Perhaps this was innovation for the sake of innovation, but I don't see the touchbar having a prolonged lifespan. Sooner or later Apple is going to come to the realization that they need a touchscreen on the MacBook.
IMHO the Surface Book from Microsoft is a great idea with a beautiful design but poorly executed [1]
I would have expected Apple to come up with this kind of product and phase out both the Macbook Air and the ipad. The Macbook + touchbar seems so half baked I'm not sure why Apple thought it was a good idea.
Congratulations to Ghost,i'm sure it will be a successfull plateform , and nodejs has interesting capabilities (socket.io,great libraries). It could become a serious Wordpress competitor indeed.
There is no real strategic buying here, i mean , why buy an url shortener in 2013? or Summly? or even Tumblr (which was not in a good shape). One cant buy relevancy.
What i see are massive layoffs at yahoo in 1 year. and the CIO out in 2 years... Mayer did not answer yahoo's identity crisis.
Yahoo mail cant still provide basic features (like using a 3rd party client for free) yet they think they are still relevant?
As for "passionate founders" , some are just serial entrepreneurs hoping their project du jour will be VCed, no passion here.
this is more IOS7 related, AFAIK ,some apps designed for older IOS versions might crash with the new os. Seems it is up to the developpers to fix this.
The problem is not the software,it is the proprietary format, just like PDF or PSD. These formats force industries to use specific softwares, were open formats would be plateform and software independent. That's the fight one needs to do, impose open and free file formats on the industry level. Microsoft like to break stuffs like it wanted to make his own version of XML, that's the true evil of Microsoft.
Today you have the choice to opt-out , tomorrow you might not.
I hope people here will stop with the "Google+ > Facebook " propaganda, their goal are the same: data mining, tracking and selling ads. It's even more difficult to manage privacy on Google+ than on Facebook.
I dont have anything against these services but there is a price to pay for "free" ones, and it will become more and more expensive.
