Just because money seems to be the most tangible thing in life it does not apply to the world. Some people value more love, health or ideals than money. Those people are quite rare to find, but they exist either unknown or known (such as Jesus, Hitler or El Che).

As a mexican, living in Mexico I can only say this:
Mexico is heading towards something really unique in the world... something like the movie "the village". If you remember in "The Village", the people that lived there never knew nothing about the outside world... or that they were an experiment. Firstly, there is a bill to kill analog tv transmissions and be replaced by digital transmissions, which is funny because most of the population do not own a new T.V nor a Digital Receiver in order to view digital T.V. Secondly, this bill plans to shut down the internet whenever the government feels it necessary, which is also funny since it already controls Media ( or should i say Media controls the government?) and we have seen it many times on presidential elections.
The company I work for provides us with transportation, although it's a 30 minutes ride, I prefer to walk about 30 minutes and then I would pay a bus to work or home. Why do I do this? Because I get a lot less stressed out when I get to my destination. And because I get to see alot of beautiful girls either at their jobs or walking :)
At least is not poorer and less productive than some countries that i know....
And, most importantly, nobody hates new zealand... compared to other "richer" countries
