That book looks interesting but it also seems like it is mostly anecdotal. I'd prefer something similar but with hard numbers behind it. Is my impression mistaken?
Seeing as how the person he is allegedly imitating also works in security and ostensibly would have the means to commit the hack--and who is also Spanish--this seems like a shitty thing to do.
I recall that there was a plugin for SoftICE called FrogsICE, which would block programs from detecting whether SoftICE was loaded. But, FrogsICE was itself able to detect whether it was already loaded (to prevent loading multiple instances).
