Gmail filters way more than it is supposed to do.
You can have a valid DKIM and DMARC and still be filtered out if your mail server doesn't rank high enough in their list.
And I'd like to specify that I'm talking about inter-personal casual communication - nothing commercial, not link, no attachments.
I have to request a proof of reading to be sure my emails get through with GMail.
Not really - some webmail clients act like they have one but they almost never works.
The other way is when you create an account somewhere, first thing you have to do is to go in their privacy and / or notifications settings. Stop it at the source.
Or rather I took back control.
I have now 2 email addresses - one for humans, one for the rest.
And I systematically unsubscribe from every email I don't want to receive (gosh I miss Europe for that), I delete everything that I have no reason to keep, and I archive anything that needs to be kept.
It demands a lot of effort at the beginning. But now my inbox is useful again.
I (used to) invest my self a lot in my work.
I didn't count the hours, was underpaid, was doing 4 times more than my position described.
And I was promised a lot of things! I was thoroughly thanked by my immediate management. I was promised a raise and a promotion.
But ultimately they always expected me to bend when my suggestions didn't fit with their immediate vision.
I left (and did they cried about it, telling me I was wonderful etc.), and I landed way better jobs, way better paid.
I figured that I was the problem, for accepting those conditions. Why would a company want me to work less for more money? When I'm already working so much, for so little.
I stopped doing that. I refused offers because they couldn't offer enough (like expecting a lead dev / senior dev for the pay of a junior), even if I loved their product or company!
So my advice is leave. And don't even look behind.
I needed a Dynamic DNS service for a couple of devices I had in my DMZ, but most free services requires you to confirm the hostname manually regularly, or include some kind of restriction.
I use Cloudflare for some domains, and I dug in their APIs to make my own DDNS.
It should be easily to adapt it to fit other DNS APIs, feel free to contribute!
In my opinion, being productive is not about squeezing as much as we can in our days, but being in the right mindset and taking breaks.
