I’d prefer that psychiatrist professional opinions stay out of politics, as they will certainly be weaponized, turned partisan, and tarnish the field. There are numerous reports from people that have actually met him in private describing his public persona as a theatrical showman.

> The President was not examined face to face, and he is not a patient of any member of our group. Rendering a formal diagnosis in this case is not our role. We have closely followed his behavior and his statements over the past year.

> It is our professional opinion that the behaviors of Donald Trump, tragically, are neither momentary lapses nor political theater. It is our professional opinion that they reflect a rapidly worsening, reality-untethered, increasingly dangerous decline.

> However, it is unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless he or she has conducted an examination and has been granted proper authorization for such a statement.

This is a great way to sidestep the political process to fund popular projects. The political constraints will ensure returns are middling, so unless they subsidize with tax breaks on dividend income I think it would be a poor commercial investment.

Whether its perfect or not, it almost has to be better than the current status quo.

They use machine id, shouldn’t need the key to reactivate on reinstall.

You’ve always been able to install and use without an account (oobe\bypassnro). As long as power users and businesses can avoid it, they have no real incentive to change.

The peak was right before they launched marketplace in my opinion (2013?). After that they had no incentive to improve Jira/Confluence, easier to take the marketplace cut. I could never understand why they couldn’t solve the speed issues though. It just got worse and worse.

> To whom is the malice directed towards, who was harmed the most? What does this act tell us about the industry?

It certainly wasn't directed at the large corporations, they have many systems in place to mitigate this type of attack. It was directed at everyone else, like fellow open source devs, contractors, hobby developers, students, and small to medium businesses.

The goal simply appears to be chaos and attention.

> It's like me keeping a bowl of M&Ms at my desk at work to snack and let people grab a few when they pass by too, but I go on a diet and replace them with brussel sprouts one day. Don't act all butt-hurt that you're not getting your free sugar, it's my bowl and I'll put whatever I want in it.

I think it's more akin to lacing the M&Ms than simply swapping out for sprouts. He pushed a deliberate denial of service with the express purpose of causing harm to as many others as he could. Even joked about it in the ticket system. Knowing full well his purported target of large corporations have layers of systems in place such that would be unaffected.

I do sympathize with him, but his actions have made him appear extremely troubled, vindictive, and callous. The OSS community may yet forgive, but he shut a lot of private sector doors permanently.

Hi Bruno, I wish you the best. I’m going back to Japan for a couple months this winter and going to miss the Roam experience so much. Most sharehouses don’t do 2-3 months.

Both the community managers were fantastic. Looking forward to see your new business model!

Roam.co is essentially out of business, but having spent several weeks in their Tokyo property it was a great experience. Always someone around to chat or eat with.

Tokyo has a large number of Sharehouses built and managed by the full stack businesses the author mentions (along with smaller co-op styles). Roam Tokyo rented a floor of a sharehouse building which had regular tenants, coworking space, conference rooms, and a large commercial style kitchen.

The model definitely works well enough in Japan, including many with a mix of natives and expats.

I think you have it spot on, but public opinion is driving those enterprise customers to make that call. They still support the terror group websites, even after being informed of them, so it’s not based on policy but rather a business decision.

Looks like the standard is there hasn’t been enough bad press about their material support of those terrorist orgs yet. They clearly wait for the public outrage before acting.

I'm glad Voat exists, but it's not somewhere I frequent. The more Reddit and Twitter crack down on speech the faster Voat and Gab will grow.
