We should try to use as much as possible renewable resources and save precious, expensive, rare elements to be used only for scientific research purposes and space missions (propulsion and power plants).
We have many alternatives on earth but we don't have energetic alternatives on other planets and outer space.
We are just wasting the opportunity to go far.
