The vast, vast majority of police officer aren't shooting blacks under super fishy circumstances but it still happens.
You tell me how many dogs, blacks, children, wtf-ever. is required before it's OK to 1) Earnestly hold police and the system accountable and 2) To have a healthy wariness, if not outright distrust, of cops and LEOs in general.
Seems to me like we've passed those thresholds and then-some a while ago.
Again? They've been comatose for years. Look how they keep screwing up w/Youtube.
Everything is an algorithm problem to them and when something goes wrong it's always "oops, crazy technology blah blah algorithms". Which is 100% a cop out. Google has been resting on its laurels for a while now. Like Steam, they've shirked all responsibility for their service/platform. Must be nice to do f-all and still print money...
Even with family as law enforcement, I've never trusted police. As a vet I'm disgusted by their lack of training and quickness to shoot first and ask questions later. Last I checked the average is 32 dogs shot by US cops a day. I don't even need to delve into the refusal to wear body cams, race issues, etc. etc. American police have not given Americans any reason to assume they are ever on the same side.
Eighteen year old infantrymen, who have an infinitely greater chance of danger, have more resolve and professionalism than American cops. I'd trust that 18 year old ground pounder over a cop any day over any thing.
They could just stop blaming their inaction on awry algorithms. It's frankly pathetic. Then, maybe stop building features no one asked for and instead fix the broken notification system? Lastly, stop lying to their creators and and hiding behind completely vague legalese.
I've been a HEAVY youtube user since around 06/07 and I'd still love to see them knocked off their perch.
After hearing so many stories like this for so many years, any time a company acquires another, it usually seems advisable to jump ship from the acquired to other vendors before things start going south.
PR will come up with all sorts of reasons said acquisition will benefit both company's customers but I've yet to see it.
I've been figuring for a couple years now I'd have to abandon macs once my air dies. Apple seems bound and determined to shun developers and instead sell facebook machines.
Every 2-3 years this gets suggested again. Somebody builds something to "compile" their pet language x to JS. At the same time 3 new JS libraries or frameworks come out to abstract an abstraction. I've been writing JS since '94 and I'm sorry but at this point all I can muster is an eye roll.
