I'm not sure if I'm the only one here but when i read "Dubai ruler hacked ex-wife" I thought hacked referred to chopped into pieces. I don't think my first thought of "hacked" has ever gone to chopping for any other post/person.

I noticed on https://www.python.org/downloads/ I only see up to python 3.9. Where is 3.10 and 3.11 downloads? whats the best way to install python?

Everything you described requires the production of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Being Amish would not :)

I often feel like democracy has failed us. We have elected trash leaders.

My perspective of democracy was that it was to protect us against both unjust rulers and ineffective rulers. The end result was instead of potential kings/rulers fighting each other directly as they did in ancient times, they fight each other indirectly by trying to get votes. They are not much different then previous era's....

Is it really this hard to get a wise ruler who both cares about the well being of humans and can take the long term view? Someone who can tell fact from fiction.

Well another completely wild solution would be to make end users responsible for storing electricity during non-generation hours. I.e. "each home having a battery device." I just made this up now but thinking about what the end result might be...

encourages:

  - more people to buy electric cars that can also act as a whole home battery
  - even more research dollars in storage/battery tech
  - distributed power grid
  - resell electricity to grid (or maybe even local neighbours)
  - short-term power outages are handled by design
  - people think more about their electricity usage
  - people may be more likely to generate power at home

downsides:

  - unnecessary extra cost to end users
  - might be less efficient then centralization
  - certain markets/peoples will not be able to easily access stored electricity?
