I'd love to have been educated re: the importance of history, and the following topics: the lead-up to WW2, Communist Russia, the formation of Israel, the formation of the EU, NATO, and UN, the world banking system, the last 100 years of Middle-Eastern conflict and perhaps the American Civil War. I now consider these some of the most relevant historical events to the current Dutch political situation and also to most other Western countries, but I never learnt about them in high school (which is from 12-18 here, I did the variant that prepars you for university).
What we need to achieve that is a realization in the counter-culture that education is important and that what people considered counter-culture in the 70's, 80's and 90's has been coopted by now, or perhaps has been "controlled opposition" from the start. Conservatism and protecting the people of your country from international realpolitik is the real counter-culture now. I think Switzerland and Poland got a lot of this right.
Demonizing the anti-advertisement camp doesn't help your case. There are legitimate reasons people dislike the deep penetration of advertisements in every area of life. I personally consider ads unethical, and I don't care if I decrease the effectiveness of what I consider to an unethical practice, in fact it's a joyous thing to me.
Your tone convinced me to go to the distance of moving to AdNauseam, and I'll be changing my recommendations to friends on unmetered connections as well.
It is outrageous, but the adult thing to do is to control your outrage and channel it with as much rationality, honesty and balance as you can muster. More outrage supports the escalation of more repression from the left and more resistance from the right.
Outrage creates both Marxists and Nazi's, and IMO both are harmful forces if given too much attention and power. I perceive fascism as the enemy, and both the far-left and the far-right are fascist. We should strive for deescalation and respect for the individual over the group.
I guess I illustrated your point then, the coverage makes it seem like we have to do something; we have to pick sides!
I feel the pull and it sucks. How does one immunize themselves to this?
And could it be done to one or more percent points of the population, or even to the point that herd immunity takes over? How could advocating "mass redpilling" be portrayed as "domestic terrorism" to those deeply immersed in the mainstream narrative?
Why did you think it was disturbing, and what's your opinion on the theories the violence at Charlottesville was planned?
The police seems to have effected a policy that all but necessitated a violent confrontation, by forcing the alt-right protestors to move through a large hostile crowd of Antifa protestors on the way to their new location, and the police not protecting the alt-right protesters.
There's more strange things that happened that day, but was there any official explanation why the police officers were ordered to use these unusual and harmful tactics?
It seems comfortable to be a fascist, your moral principles are simple and your path forward, too.
I wonder if the health upsides of having simpler and easier to follow moral principles, would outweigh the downsides of being offended and angry all the time.
I sure hope I won't have to find out. It's a privilege to be a non-partisan, although perhaps I can't quite say I am, because I despise communism even more than I despise fascism. The intellectual dishonesty with which mainstream (which is to say, leftist) media praise communism and attack Nazism is revolting.
Person, AFAICT there was just one guy with a Nazi flag but a lot of picture where made of him.
Portraying the whole alt-right (or the whole right) as Nazi's is inaccurate, offensive and divisive. It just helps them, and it leads to everyone reasonable getting stuck between angry fascist communists and angry fascist Nazi's.
As an aside, white supremacy != Nazism. Nazism includes white supremacy, but adds some other factors like fascism. White supremacy is not all that different from the popular Jewish supremacy movement in Israel. Most peoples want to preserve their cultures and not let themselves be replaced, but it seems like only European welfare states and the U.S. are ever attacked for it.
When did you last hear about the "Islamic supremacy" that is the dominant culture in the Middle East?
What's wrong with recreating and repackaging ideas?
You'll gain a better understanding of the ideas, show others how to do the same (if you publish your efforts) and perhaps create new ideas through accidental new combinations or the concerted effort to integrate multiple existing ideas in an unusual way.
Is it yellow journalism? Right propaganda, left propaganda? Articles from the perspective of the skeptics, from the alt-right, Neo-Nazi's, communists, cultural Marxists or from radical feminists? Something else?
Where do you get that idea of the moral superiority of the modern left (is that not what you meant?) from? Isn't it quite strongly related with cultural Marxism, which is related to Marxism which (I hope) we can agree has been been the most genocidal ideology of human history, birthing Bolshevism, Stalinism and Maoism?
This is both a segue and something tightly related; do you think the genocide of white males is hypothetically possible, and do you have an opinion on the relation between the Armenian genocide and the modern-day "alt-right" notion of "diversity = white genocide" in relation to (re/dis)placement migration as promoted by the European Union, Sweden, Canada, Germany and France?
(I just noticed the combination of overwhelmingly (Islamic?) male illegal migrants and "diversity" as in the promotion of ethnic minorities and non-males, I think that might result in some interesting conflicts re: normal non-Western attitudes regarding women, but perhaps there is no conflict because of some dynamic I'm underestimating or overlooking?)
Safe spaces and diversity are diametrical to due process and tolerance. You're assumed guilty and treated as lesser if "privileged", which means white, male or both.
