I‘d say the same holds true for other use cases and should not only target vibe coders. Eg self driving cars. Level 2 is fine and level 5 is good, it‘s in between these two where I‘m afraid of as people are distracted enough and not able enough to gather what‘s happening around them to react in every situation.

The ecological impact of AI for me is one of the biggest reasons to use it sparingly, even though I like technology. It‘s not as if we weren‘t in dire straights before its advent, but with all the additional datacenters being built and additional power and water required, we are just accelerating down the slope. Then come the ethical implications. And most of it, just to make more profit… profit for the few > well being of the many (now & for future generations)

How could it ruin somebodys sleep, when they could just simply pull the plug? And in case of the preheated matress just lay it outside or put some ice on it. Seems like constructed problems to me.

And: whoever buys products that can only be run when it connects to a foreign server is an idiot. There should be laws preventing cloud-only physical products, as this causes unnecessary waste as soon as the companies stop offering the service (for whatever reason). They should at least habe to offer containerized versions of the backend service that can be run locally.
