Sorry, I fail to see how denouncing a coup and a dictatorship is off-topic in a post about stealing children under a dictatorship. Maybe I'm wrong but I think defending democracy and denouncing a fascist regime should not be seen as generic ideological but common sense.

Germany have similar laws but more restrictive, there is always ppl that support fascist regimes, like you with this comment.

Most countries decided to go for an education system that consistently causes PTSD in a large part of the population yet most ppl thinks there is nothing wrong with it. In the name of competitiveness the wheel needs to keep spinning and crush more and more souls.

"Average daily usage could increase" And at some point you just need to increase the hours in a day...

> she has plenty of alarm bells that can't be turned off at all, her speaker constantly makes noise that can't be turned off either.

Well.. you can but only once, but it's immoral/illegal.

At least for me, the fact that BT is decades old and most ppl still have issues with it is enough to think that is just a hot pile of garbage.

My job destroyed my mental health, my ability to enjoy hobbies, my read capacity and ironically my productivity. I used to do all kind of stuff outside my job (programming, making music, designing analog amplifiers...) all gone just to make some ppl richer and no benefit for this society, maybe harming it. So I guess no, I don't find it fulfilling.

Well... It does, I work for an US based company but from Europe, they expected me to be available almost 24/7 and extra hours are "part of the salary" That's illegal in my country, as soon as I mentioned "Illegal" the discussion ended. Also If I accept to take any extra hours there are limits to that and I can't start working in the next 10 hours (we assume that ppl need rest and sleep).

I think is important to realize that ppl need to rest and have a life outside work and not to see workers as a disposable utility, and as a modern society we need to protect others from the power imbalances.

Cooome on! the US is also extremely dangerous to civilian population, look at vietnam, afganistan, irak... this is almost obscene.

I really need to thank you for that game for me it was ... amazing. I still have the original box and I clearly remember been fascinating about how on earth it was possible to pack such a game in a couple of floppy disks. Thanks man.

It's really interesting. Reading the comments look like the primary reason to not maintaining friendship is mobility. I always suspected that humans are not well adjusted to that, think about what was a terrible punish back in time, exile.

Exile meant loosing your friends and family network and I think we experience a mild form on this in current times (not nearly as bad)

I'd never made strong bounds at work, my friends are the same as I grew up but I'm still living in my hometown (except for brief periods of working outside) and a lot of them are also here, so it's easy to maintain that friendship.

Powerlifting. I used to workout without any goal just bodybuilding style. Having clear goals and metrics due powerlifting helped me to progress a lot even if I'm now +40 years old, most important I enjoy it.

We have proof of the contrary. There is quite a lot of reports about ppl killing their partners (children, family) when abandoned and then committing suicide. I'm not saying that you should not stand your ground, I'm just saying that your are making dangerous assumptions, some ppl can be irrational or just overwhelmed with emotions. With micro-scale MAD 2 ppl die, with a large scale one you just need 1 person go crazy and it's over. TBH I'd never believe that the real reason for avoiding ww3 was MAD.

> EDIT: if you want data, compare the GDP for hour worked in Italy with Germany or the US: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_labour_... That's what they get paid, not what they produce

That's obviously not the reason, there is a lot of good stuff done by volunteers, it's niche and not enough ppl care about it.

I need to see those "Low productivity" numbers. I worked with ppl all around the work and I'd never seen that, what I see is companies offering lower salaries because the can in some countries, period. Anecdata: My previous team mate was Italian, a guy in his 50, former co-founder of an small Italian ISP super productive, bast amount of knowledge and working for 55k€ so.. please cut that "you get what you deserve".

Tax is never the answer, free market will solve it magically ... in a magical way. Do not interfere with forces beyond our comprehension.

I feel that very profoundly, and always brings to my mind the phrase "And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
