As an outside observer, it does seem that the whole process is tedious, capricious, and corrupt. No wonder academia is crumbling - it deserves to, and it needs to be replaced with a new, better system.
What is reasoning except applying another pattern on top of existing thought? Personally it seems like I and everyone else is simply pattern matching, albeit at a higher level than current LLMs. There is no difference in the process as far as I can tell, just different inputs.
After the last one of these posts talking about cold brew coffee I attempted to replicate the results by just throwing some water and coffee into an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Results were not satisfactory. I wonder if extracting the transducer from the jewelry cleaner and attaching it to my Portafilter would work.
This is the type of thing I have to fight against daily. You already have both action available - left click or middle click. Don't bloat your software with band aids for problems that don't exist - just train your users better.
At what point does civil disobedience become justified? Expected even? Also let's be clear - this is not violence, not assault, it is simple destruction of property.
I don't think anyone is saying that. You will just need to be authenticated before giving any commands to the bank. Maybe some type of TOTP that you can use over the phone or in person.
The only time I want to read something written by AI is when I am interacting with an LLM directly. I don’t know who these people are that think others want to read their slop. Even if the content is good, I can’t stand reading it.
Hobbies are great. Making a living is usually a separate endeavor. I don’t want to pay for an artisan spoon. There will be a limited market for artisan software. But make no mistake, we are entering the era of software mass production. Say goodbye to your chisels and rasps. If you want to make money you will need to operate the machine that builds the machine.
Junior developers have always been a lot less effective than senior developers. We will need new senior developers so we will need to train junior developers. Maybe we train them by forcing them to do things the hard way. The slow way. By hand. Because if we let them do things the fast way they are going to cause some serious damage.
My team was doing this until recently but I think in February, Anthropic made team accounts available for subscription instead of API billing. Assuming that is the cost you mentioned.
Exactly.... -> Unit tests. Integration tests. UI tests. This is how code should be verified no matter the author. Just today I told my team we should not be reading every line of LLM code. Understand the pattern. Read the interesting / complex parts. Read the tests.
I’m not sure if these fires are correlated with the staff reductions in BLM. In the interview with a resident she doesn’t mention anything about that, just that last year was very wet which provided a lot of fuel and this hot dry spring has turned it into a tinder box.
Since we are apparently giving messaging platform reviews here, I feel exactly the same way about Microsoft Teams. It works great. It does everything I want. It doesn’t get in my way. 10 out of 10 keep up the great work guys!
