The big thing to me is why are we even running these models on top of an operating system?
What I really want is Claude as a deep part of the operating system.
If that happens then a whole lot of the abstraction of software vanishes along with what we think of today as software jobs. I think many new forms of knowledge work would emerge from this though.
I would think that needs massive local compute but I can't imagine that is not the future down the line.
The industrial revolution made life better at mass scale but it certainly didn't make life better for the hand loom weaver who had previously went from working at home by hand to higher output but working hard all day in a factory.
From the outside, this all sounds like my father who worked as a mechanic at a flour mill.
His job was mostly watching the machine do the work and then fixing the machine when it broke down. 90% of the time it ran fine.
Going from working by hand to watching the machine would seem really boring and I guess I can understand the AI hate on here from that perspective.
I think Opus can still have sycophantic residue that Fable can point out sometimes. Both models though hold their ground so well.
I have got so use to the Claude personality / style of conversation that I really can't be bothered to try these other models anymore. They need to take a huge jump but that seems to be getting harder and harder because of the jumps Anthropic makes.
This Grok version is a joke if it is not even clearing the bar now. I am just getting use to and using Fable more and more. I am also trying not to forget that this is the highly delayed old Fable model that Grok can't even beat on release. There will be a new version that expands the lead in a week or two.
It all harder and harder to judge too. I just had a prompt/response this morning that Fable finally displayed its intelligence and vowed me. That is partly because anything with even the vaguest reference to biology defaults back to Opus.
"AI isn't sustainable" is a completely meaningless statement but exemplary of the thought patterns of the bumper sticker thought compression of the social media addict.
You have to a fucking moron to think Claude is not "useful".
