Yes, in US you wont go to jail. But the companies will beat you down for beeing too laud with their lawyers. US first amandment is just smoke and mirrors. You are allowed to say anything on the other side, you don't dare to say anything as you might get sued. I have lived on both continents and once you look at political correctness/criticism/newspapers you will see that people in states are far less outspoken than in europe. At the end it comes down to the system and who it protects: in europe people - in states corporations.
Anyway, for a proof, just check this thread on HN. People can have their opinions, as long they don't express them. Once they do, and are not in line with majority, they will be punished with -1. The moral of the story, in US there is a mentality where only people strongly over average can express their opinions (mentally, moneywise,..). Everyone can agree or is being beaten down by everyone.
This is all you need. Block access to all addresses that have nothing to do with app vendor, not just for the sake of ads, but also to prevent your data leaking to data brokers.
I have reviewed the code, if you pay the author "donation", all the ads he uses are disabled.
You can also do much more, but you need to root your phone. Xposed framework, minmin guard, xprivacylua (fake information about your phone to the application, from phone number to location (I am regulary on south pole)), hide root,...
And don't be afraid to root your phone, it only means that you have taken control for YOUR device.
I can do safe multithreading in c++ at any time. But I will sit down with a solution for a while before I even start coding. Might even take more time than writting the code. I will outperform the Rust even if I will use inline assembly. Rust is the same as everything else. A good enough alternative for people incapable of understanding software development beyond copy pasting code from internet. And everyone else is too rare and expensive to hire him.
And today "good enough" developers are harder to find than "good enough" language.
Today no one is prepared to pay for quality thats why everything us bellow average, not only development, every single product you find.
Actually it is funny the people are prepared to pay more for hype than quality.
Wait a few more years and Rust will be "too hard to use".
At the end javascript idiocracy will prevail.
Buying Getoraid stocks, in 20 years they will be worth more than gold. Coz it has electrolytes.
But not becoase of Rust. To develop in c++/c you need to know what you are doing. The developers like that, are very rare today.
(And now I will get -20 when whole Rust evengalist crew will reign down on me... :D :D :D And people complain about Russians manipulating the elections :D Nothin compared to Rust :D)
Well quite frankly, I dont care what google does. I am doing if old school since forever, squid proxy doint mitm. And it works for all my OSes from android to linux laptop. It is not as easy to set up as in browser ads blockers, but is completly out of control of browser and ad blockers or OS vendor. Anyway there is firefox too, while for chrome, as everything from google, I can only say - I told you so (10 years back).
Btw, it is quite interesting, that over all those "we were right" years, people are still trying to confort themself about how great their favorite brand is, we have a saying that even donkey walks on ice only once.
Taken from some other thread:
"Most "unix" admins only know linux and will advocate for it vigorously because it is so much better than.. "what do you use again? Fedora? Ah, FreeBSD, something with F, I knew it!""
Sure, but there were 19 years of time proofing them. Each product has vulnerabilities which get weeded out when time passes. And for kata and docker, in context of what they are used for, they are bleeding edge.
(from a technical perspective, you would be running jails for years too - so much about platform loyality)
Sorry, I am not going into endless debates. It is waste of my time. Check documentation, read about it and technology is here for 19 years. I dont care what anyone useses. I have just stated what the most reliable technology for compartmentization is. Docker and kata are in IT time since yesterday and there are lots of dragons still hiding. Same goes for integration with ZFS (part of freebsd since 6 April 2007).
Alternative idea: throw away docker and katacontainers and move to freebsd, where jails were introduced on 14 Mar 2000 (no, seriously, superior technology exists for 19 years - stable, time proven, working).
Electron is abomination of software development an a laugh into faces of computer science from need for masses of incompetent people doing frankenstain software. There is nothing to be excited about - it is just another step back into past.
