Hi! I've been a fullstack developer since the early 2000s, doing both fullstack, backend, frontend, and occasionally mobile apps with web technologies.

I take great pride in delivering products that actually work, and I have a knack for making user-friendly UIs as well as developer-friendly APIs and good documentation.

I found this interesting: "Still, despite all the hype about how AI coding tools will replace software engineers, software engineering is still one of the most secure jobs you can have today, relative to most other white-collar jobs."

Considering an app that lets digital nomads in a city find other digital nomads for exploring the city together or just getting a cup of coffee. Would anybody be interested in such an app?

> Pharma is miles behind US

Ozempic was invented by a Danish company, Novo Nordisk. Only recently did Eli Lilly, an American company, catch up.

Honestly, I don't get the Electron hate. The majority of developers here on HN probably use VS Code as their editor, and that editor was made with Electron. For a lot of companies who don't have a desktop app as their main product, it simply isn't feasibly to have a dedicated Windows developer, a Mac developer, and a Linux developer, when you can do everything with one codebase.

https://penneo.com/ is a good alternative. And while I applaud your effort to do something in this space, personally I'd prefer a solution that's been thought over by lawyers, etc. Faster is not better in this particular space.

If you do multiple projects for each client, stall the work you're presently doing for every client that pays late. Let them know upfront that unpaid invoices immediately make you halt all work on the next stages of the client's project.

As for the AI solution you're suggesting, it's probably too easy for people to automate that kind of thing, so it might be a tough sell if you're charging $49 for it. But who knows.

I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. While car size and roads play a part in this problem, so does culture. And while the US culture is diverse and mixed, culture - in this case people's approach to driving - does play a part in this.

The tendency to compare the US to Europe in the comments here baffles me: Not only are there major differences with regards to roads and road safety between the countries of Europe, but there are also major differences within Europe when it comes to driving style, aggression, risk-taking, etc. If I, as a Dane, go to e.g. southern France, I'll see a completely different style of driving than in Denmark.

In the comments here you'll see people saying that European roads are much better suited for pedestrians. If you ask me that is definitely not the case in e.g. Spain.

What feels more "natural" is likely to be influenced by what you already know. I've always felt that JSX felt unnatural and Vue's and Svelte's way of doing it feels more natural.

> React is obviously the "new jquery", and something else will come one day.

"Something else" is already here and has been for a long time. Vue and Svelte are both excellent alternatives.

As someone who isn't too familiar with Next and Vercel (having primarily used Nuxt, the Vue equivalent), it's helpful for me to know what's going on in the React world. Discussions like the above are actually helpful in terms of helping people choose between the various frameworks and hosts.

I grew tired of Svelte after it introduced too much "magic". Svelte used to be simple, now it's Vue that feels simple (and yet powerful), and Vue has a much bigger ecosystem in terms of plugins, etc.

AFAIK it's perfectly possible to sign up for a free Proton account without revealing your identity.

> Many Europeans support this - they don't understand how government censorship can quickly get out of hand.

There are only a few European countries that jail people for wrongspeak, and I can't think of a single one of those countries whose population in general is in favor of such laws.

As a Dane: I'm not sure how you reached that conclusion. A ton of people in Denmark are sceptical about this. You may argue that the Danes voted for the government that is now in favor in the surveillance, but the issue of surveillance weren't even on the agenda in the last election, so this has taken most people by surprise.
