1) Every developer no matter how new wants to contribute something.
2) There is no centralized authority in most languages/package system to stop them doing so
3) Imagine all the bad code you write in the first 2 years but now you can't delete it because 100 other developers rely on it and 100 other developers rely on them
The rube goldberg machine exists because of the matryoshka dolls that is the dependency tree. Sometimes rewriting things is actually easier than trying to untangle the wire of dependencies.
If you are really passionate you will eventually bump into people who are also really good at it. Example: I was very passionate about photography and ended up invited to a group show, met other photographers. I was very passionate about coding and ended up meeting coders who were just as good as me at work. Your passion will attract other passionate people.
My advice: work towards that passion and it will attract others. Just be ready to meet some very very talented people and see them as a collaborator not a competitor. When you collaborate with other passionate people (everyone contributes what they're best at) it will attract even more talented people, because then people will know you're both passionate and easy to work with.
Lastly: Never be afraid to reach out to people, I couldn't find anyone who was as crazy about design as this one legendary guy who I looked up to like he was jesus. I ended up writing him an email and he invited me to have coffee at his house, something that never would have happened if I hadn't worked up the courage to reach out.

Yes, my dad was pretty great so except for a few bad things I try to be like him

Yes but also about what sucked about being a kid and was unnecessary vs necessary.
- Did you align with a "style" of parenting?
My dad's style worked well, so yes if that is a style. I'd call it "laissez-faire within explained boundaries / rules".
- How did you use technology to help you?
I mainly use it for my marriage (shopping lists, todos, etc) I don't use tech with my kids
- Did you keep your kids away from technology (like watching TV) for the first couple of years or just go for it?
They didn't know what an ipad was until they were ~ 5. After that it was introduced to them as a tool versus something to goof around on.
- What would you do differently if you had your time again?
Not worry so much about money and let the kids feel the stress. They have no concept of income and expenses they just want their parents around in a stress-free mood.

Real reason:
Twitter cut half its staff and still works fine. Everyone said it would explode and the servers would shit the bed, but you don't need 7000 employees to maintain 5 features. As soon as it was clear half the employees were redundant, other companies realized they could lay off some of their useless people too. Companies had huge bloat and realized the core operations would be fine if you can some people, so they did.
