Notice how the description never included the term "ethical". That's something you injected as an assumption to make a counter point.

Not blaming you, just highlighting the flaw in your argument. Because, the lack of mention of that word IS a culture issue.

> I don't think you need to somehow get personally offended by every Tesla on the road but it seems ridiculous to ask people to not be political about a such obviously political figure.

You can be political, but go be political in a political forum. HN has always maintained etiquette in this regard of being a tech forum. Why do this here? A lot of us don't give a fuck about US politics or any politics for that matter.

Anthropic's Claude Code was caught steganographically marking requests[0] - for a "privacy first" AI company that's a huge violation of user trust. And yet, a lot of users still love Anthropic and hail it as some sort of hero here. Selective outrage is a very dangerous thing.

I've been on HN since 2012-ish, but a reader since way before. In the last 5 years alone, HN has unfortunately become extremely political, steering most conversations in the direction of political correctness rather than technical objectivity. I don't think it's a problem of moderation, because, that is still quite good. I think it's just the evolution of forums in general. Invariably, someone will start with FUD or ragebait and every discussion that follows will be trying to address that instead of the technicality behind the topic. Partly, we are also to blame - a lot of the top stories on HN these days have nothing to do with technology to be honest. You'll find the most random stuff on the HN sometimes - "Why geese mate for life" or something similar that makes you wonder "what the fuck am I supposed to do with that information now?"

Wow, I never heard of Forgejo before. Going to give it a shot. Thanks!

They need to justify to the markets that their Azure investments were worth it. The whole company is built around Azure. The AI justification is just a storefront for it. Every engineer who worked on it will tell you it's a pack of cards waiting to crash. All the issues with Github, etc. are just side effects. Otherwise, if they write off Azure, their stock price will take a dip as they just admitted to burning cash on a lost cause - which it actually is (my personal opinion).

Large corporations like Microsoft under constant pressure from investors are slapping AI onto every single product offering just so they can claim they're an AI company now. Just like what Adobe did. So yeah, that didn't end well and probably this wouldn't either. Consumers are getting tired of these half-assed AI integrations and there will be a breaking point soon.

> Dammit, fell for another AI slop article AGAIN...

Is it really "slop" if you keep falling for AI written articles again and again? Doesn't that actually mean the opposite - the AI seemingly convinced you (or almost) that it was written by a realy human?

Not crappy by any means, but, till date, Elixir forum (elixirforum.com) simply has the best mix of knowledge, etiquette and discussions on any and most topics around Elixir. I hope they never retire it ever. I still feel the community support whenever I participate there. People genuinely are also interested in what you're working on, etc. I could never get this from Reddit.

Social media has censorship, which most old school forums couldn't simply replicate with volume, even with moderators in place. So, a lot of times you will find unfiltered discussion about certain topics as opposed to a controlled narrative you will get on social media.

I wonder how is this even legal? The only useful job the HR departments are ever required to do - they decide to automate it? Aside from being a daycare for adults, what exactly does HR accomplish? It's clearly NOT on the side of employees, but this seems like they're clearly NOT on the side of employers, either.

While resume's are being filtered left and right, they just make TikTok's on company's dime [1]. What a sad state of affairs.

What is the methodology of your benchmark?

On the contrary, I personally think these broader benchmarks are meaningless. I think personalized benchmarks are the way to go. They should answer "How does this model perform for MY use-case?" rather than trying to answer "How does this model perform across all coding environments?"

Case in point: I use Elixir which is not as popular as Python, is always a hit or miss with most SOTA models at the top of these benchmarks. Whereas, the ones in the middle of the benchmarks (like the GLM) almost always outperform even SOTA models from Google / Anthropic. However, this is relevant only for my use case and I wouldn't just advocate a model for everyone based off my use-case alone.

I am seeing extremely positive results with Elixir too. Previously I was on Deepseek (deepseek-v4-pro) and GLM5.2 outperforms Deepseek easily. It's been a month since I used any native Claude models (simply because of pricing) but then, GLM5.2 is running for me at $20/day in usage on OpenRouter for GLM5.2. I am not sure if I've misconfigured Claude code or if this is indeed normal usage pricing. But, the output more than makes up for it. However, using Deepseek v4 pro directly from deepseek.com using their discounted pricing is insanely cost efficient. I topped up $10 a month and a half ago and I'm still yet to use up all the money in my account. Here's hoping that SOTA models become even cheaper!

> everyone involved should lose re election and get investigated by the financial crimes unit

The flawed assumption here is assuming elections are an exception to every other democratic process riddled with corruption and are operated fair and square, in general.

> Or does this not apply to huge US corporations any more?

When it comes to favorite companies of the tech communities, it's almost always "Rules for thee, but not for me"

The standard stance is "they can do no wrong and they are absolutely perfect". I mean, look at any thread with anything about Apple in it.
