i feel like scaling is rarely brought into the conversation. It’s easy to hate on ms, especially with their AI slop narratives, but they did get a sudden and then ongoing influx of users that the system was not designed to handle. It’s the kiss of death and it’s not anything new in terms of product failure scenarios

Back in the days when I used to use windows, they way I navigate through the task bar was window key + app index (manually sorted). Same way i navigate through tabs in my browser. This, of course, can be my own ergonomic feature, but using a task bar without this feature feels clunky.

And since full-screen apps on MacOS work on different workspaces, and the bar is context-dependent to the workspace - this means that I have to choose to work on a maximized window or have it in my taskbar. It will be nice if there is an option to consolidate all the apps. Static, sticky, salad.

And damn, I used to pay $100-200 for an entire OS, now its $40 for a taskbar. - "Old man yells at inflated clouds"

I don’t believe anyone here suggests or hints at the extremes(100%) you are referring to. Mockery for the “i don’t play games so games are childish” argument is fine tho

Bro, is there anything you haven't thought hard about? I read throughout the thread and the answers sound really LLM-y. Although these days we might be calling wolf about gusts of wind.

Great framework tho. Awesome job.

Not related to the topic. You have to say something - go yell at twitter, bluesky or any other cesspool of barber-shop opinions ;-)

Your point being?

Why is this even a post? These models are not intelligent. That's not even controversial. LLMs are not the foundation for general intelligence.

Where are you getting this from?

Ever heard of weather? Long distances? Sickness? Hills? A stroller is walking with a handicap.

Arguing for the sake of arguing in this case is really poor on your part.

I'd have to agree with the "Redditor Detective" here. I've asked you a lot about your statements and all you basically said is "i know shit".

The redditor comment here is sort of a projection. Kind of like ..a redditor mod.

This is not a serious comment. Infants on bikes.

Are you a technician or an engineer? And as a follow up, what part of the vehicle do you engineer?

Because this sounds a lot like a case of a dentist seeing a lot of cavities and making conclusions that teeth are "bad tech".

I live in a climate that's in yearly flux from -20 to +35 C and EVs have been normal here for a long time(7+ years) with no major issues. What parameters and therefore regions does your statement cover? I'm sure you can't run an EV in Syberia(RU), but people with petrol cars there have to run them even parked to avoid freezing during the winter so there will always be extremes.

As for the commercial equation: BYD and Tesla don't seem to be fitting that narrative. So this is not a matter of a marketing mistake - but an overall execution on the failed manufacturers.

This is true. But it does not negate the comment you are replying to. Once you introduce kids into the mix (esp infants) - this whole narrative falls apart quite quick, ditto for elders/people with disabilities. Bikes, public transport are not a substitute for the vehicle.

I do agree that the vehicle should not be the default transportation even if I do consider myself a "car guy".

Again, apples and oranges. Private citizens vs government. Musk has no power given to him by someone, the government does, using that power in a way that might be considered abusive/authoritarian might yield (deserved) backlash.

I'm not sure if I'm not getting something. It's a for-profit organization vs a government entity. It's not even remotely similar.

Musk is a contrarian. He, however, is not a government body (nor does he represent one, u can choose to include the dubious Doge efforts into the discussion but that will devolve into semantics that do not negate the point). As a private citizen with a platform for which he overpaid - he can do as he pleases within the confines of said platform. Musk, however, cannot enforce fines on other providers and request stuff from them. This is what the post is about.
